Going on the Spector website and watching the video series on the different processes on how these basses are made also influenced my decision. Amen!

IMO there is no excuse for the poor build quality you get with some basses from other mfr's. Sure less expensive hardware and electronics are part of the price point but Spector doesn't skimp much there either. A solid and correctly built instrument should be a given though at any price point, and Spector consistently delivers.

That's what the bass boost is for ;). I favor my P just a little on my euro. Then dime the bass boost and run the treb at about 80%. Use the amp to shape from there. That treble and clank off the J is what gives you definition and growl in the mix. You can lower the J a few turns to get the amount of definition you want. These basses LOVE a set up with some fret buzz as well. It translates to snarl when you play and is actually very musical. These basses are very sensitive to set ups and strings. Go slow , take your time , and make small adjustments over time. Everything you want is there, it just takes some time to figure out what's the right set up for you and your style.

Have you tried lowering the J pickup? If that is sounding too harsh, lowering it might tone it down for you.

I'm wondering which pre he has - in addition to the TonePump, the Spector site shows two optional preamps for the Euro LX. :hmm:

I have a Warwick that I've played for 7 years, it's going nowhere. When you bond with a bass its good........you keep it.

For the last year, you couldn't convince me that a NS2 was worth the price. I played that old Kramer era one Lee has at my last show and something just clicked...........or maybe it didn't? LOL But I liked that bass enough to entertain trying to buy it.

It doesn't mean its better than certain other basses I just liked it.........I have played more current build NS2's and didn't care for them..........so who knows. Like what ya like.......

:cool: That says it very very well Brotherbassj. I'm down to one only only one bass for right now and that's my Coda 5XL. Big Blue & I have bonded and I don't care about playing anything else right now. Before shipping the NS-2000/5 off to Donny I played a few more songs with her...but it wasn't stacking up to my already expectations of Big Blue. I've come to love the wider string spacing like on the Coda, feel of the neck, etc...As badly as I'd love to have a WCR NS-5XL, I'm afraid it might become a piece of artwork that doesn't get played. :smug:

It's a tonepump. I've got the trim at about 50%. Couple of the tips provided helped a lot. The two pickups blended with full bass boost and bout 75% treble is doing the trick so far. I also got out my live rig to get a feel for tonight's gig and coupled with the suggested bass settings things are sounding killer. A large part of the problem was the pf-500 and 410cab I practice with. It was really taking the life out of the tone. Plugging into the GK rb head and 412 cab the tone of this bass is monstrous.

This series of pictures has just moved water cured redwood with a gloss finish to the top of my favorite finishes list. Its fascinating how one bass can have so many different appearances. That grain is just deep and multi dimensional. Sick. Gorgeous.

I have a taste of how awesome the redwood burl is in my NS-4H2, but this finish is just ridiculous. Amazing shots of my new #1 SAS bass!

All three of these basses are USA Models.
The Forte would have the Aguilar OBP-2 (that's the matte black one).
The other two, the vintage Brooklyn and the Spalt Maple NS-2, will have the Spector USA 9v Circuit (made for Spector by Henry @ HazLabs).

Duh! I thought you were talking about Omer's video. Sorry!
