Okay, so all these great photo suggestions got me playing with a light and my iphone. Fun stuff. I figured I'd share some of the results, giving you all a good floor to start at. Let's see your beautiful Spectors and your photography skills. :D

I love this bass - it has my alien friends who pop out up top when the light is right. And it has a unusual quilt pattern that the Czech shop folks put together so nicely. The tone pump in this one is the perfect match as well. No urge to change it out.

I like the bottom quilt on this shot....

Patrick...Why is it so hard (Seemily impossible) to capture the true color of the Bahama Blue color on these Spector basses? i.e. My Coda 5XL Deluxe? We've tried indoor lighting with photo lamps, different color backgrounds, natural outdoor lighting...seems to washout the true aqua blue color. I was totally puzzled when I received it...thought it was the wrong bass. Lol I love the Bahama Blue color, don't get me wrong, but I haven't seen one photographed in its true color. One of those hard to capture? Thank you! :)

Going on the Spector website and watching the video series on the different processes on how these basses are made also influenced my decision. Congratulations! That is the most remarkable Tobacco burst I've seen! What year is it? Welcome to our family! :)

I think this topic came up in the last thread or so, but there are some really sweet tobacco burst Spectors out there! I believe Patrick posted a handful of pics.

Here is one that Dave Fowler posted on FB. It's a burst refinish on what I believe is a Kramer era NS-2. It's pretty sweet!

Not really, but I've seen what is called "Bahama Blue" vary from a real light true blue to a darker sky blue like yours.

There's a lot of variation in the color of that stain.

I've been able to capture the color as it is several times.

I don't know what else to say other than sometimes even with the best lights and settings on your camera, you have to color adjust the final image in Photoshop. Either adjusting the amount of blue or sometimes toning down the saturation, other times upping the sat.

I just depends.

Ice - hopefully Patrick will chime in here, but I've read that blue is the hardest color for the human eye to see because it contains the shortest wavelength of light.
Perhaps this is why it it is notoriously difficult to capture in pictures. My dark blue NS-4 is the same way - I've yet to get a picture of it that truely captures it's actual color....

I always bring a picture into Photoshop and at least give it a shot of Auto Tone, Contrast, and Color.

Installed the D-tuner on my NS2A today. Works but it hits the back of the headstock when you drop. Anyone else have this issue? It looks like I will have to slightly bend the lever to have it not hit. I just wanted to see if there was another solution before I do........
