hey gang- I purchased a beautiful USA Spector about 2-2.5 months ago on ebay, and there was some damage sustained during shipping, and while waiting for FedEx to respond, I left the bass untouched the entire time (it was killing me - like a kid waking up Christmas morning, only to be told he can open his presents until spring!). Well, there's some good news and bad news... the good is that FedEx is paying for the repairs on the bass

- and I finally got to sit down with it (after I changed the strings - I had a set of brand new SIT's nickels) - WOW!

The tone is pure bliss! I had my 'practice rig' with me at home (Carvin BX500 --> GK Neo112 + GK Neo212 [Effects loop: DarkGlass B7K --> SansAmp BDDI])... I really didn't even need to use the effects loop - just an amazing sounding bass!
The bad... I was told that my job is going to be lost (I figure the end of June, maybe mid July)

- I shouldn't have too much trouble finding another job (from what I've been told the software developer market is still pretty good- hope it stays that way).
So, just a quick question for my Spector brothers out there - have any of you tried Ernie Ball Cobalts? I love them on my Pedulla's, but since I'm loving the tone on the SIT's on my Spector (for the short run I did with it), I wanted to get some other opinions. I guess it would help if I told you that I'm a metal player (Maiden, Sabbath, etc).
and yes, with just a quick test drive, I can easily see this moving into the #2 spot on my arsenal... or a tie with #1 (I can only imagine how this monster is going to sound when I use it on my big rig

)
