Can someone give me their opinion on the USA bolt-ons? I'd like to check out a spector but need the wider spacing. Do the NS-52H's still have that signature sound? The preamp, pickups and bridge are different -- which I would imagine changes the tone significantly.
The price seems good though for a US made boutique 5. Thanks in advance!

That's one of my favorite things about the US9V pre - its clean & clear up to 95% on the master volume, and greasy & gritty from there on up.
And I love that the circuit board on mine matches the color of my bass...

I don't have a wall of SVT's but I do have (2) SWR Megoliath 8x10's.
Hey Joel, the wider spaced bolt-on 5's are very nice. I thought the wider spacing would be difficult to get used to as I don't like wide necks but I didn't have any problems at all adjusting to it. As a matter of fact I have one on order for our store right now. If you have any interest I can PM you a photo of the body before finishing. It is going to be finished in a color called black gold that I borrowed for PRS. Very killer color.
The pickups are EMG TW humbuckers that can be split into single coil J mode for some great J pickup sounds. The preamp is the Aguilar OBP-3 3 band active EQ and the bridge is going to be the Hipshot Type-A. All black hardware.
I know a lot of the guys here on the board have the OBP-3 preamp and can give you some good info on this preamp verses the 18 volt Spector preamp and the 9 volt Spector preamp.
If you contact LimaGuy he can hook you up with recorded samples of all the Spector preamps.

I have an SWR Baby Blue for my home & recording amp & I love it. I also have an SWR Headlite that I use as both a Taurus Pedal amp, & as a bass rig for small & medium size rooms.
My big rig is a Phil Jones M-500 head driving PJB 8-T and 16-B cabs, and I really like it too.
I think SWR and PJB gear matches very well with Spector basses, and one of these days I may just have to grab a Heritage SVT & 8x10 for yet another flavor.
I have never had the pleasure of playing any of the PJB gear but I've heard great things about them.
I would love to have a Heritage SVT & Heritage SVT 8x10. I know Spectors sound great through them! I would just hate to hall that head around. They weigh a ton.

I'm in! Euro 4LX poplar burl, Rex5 Pro holoflash, Woodstock NS2J Special Edition figured walnut bolt on.
Was also very briefly the owner of a beautiful fretless Black and Teal (call it dark green) Spectorcore4 earlier this week. Returned it to Amazon since what I ordered was supposed to be a fretted bass. The hunt for a nice non amber burst Spectorcore continues.

Wow, what a killer grain on the poplar burl!!
Thanks. I love how the grain at the neck joint just explodes and fades into the burl pattern. My daughter hates this bass, she gets creeped out by all the "faces" hiding in the burl (if you look close you'll see a bunch of them).
