Every time I plug into my rig the desire to buy more gear is gone. Well except the desire for a white Spector (Skid Row, Not Sting) I have been buying recording gear though.

Correct.
Coda and Forte, both chosen by PJ Rubal, are elements in classical music and modern music notation (standard).

Just like Led Zeppelin named their last album, "Coda" for they knew that there would be no more.

And the term has been used in modern songs as a clever lyric such as Third Eye Blind's song, "Semi-Charmed Life".

"And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse
Chop another line like a coda with a curse"

That's cool, I had the musical connection but I guess I didn't know the reason why it was connected to the bass....wondering if there was a 'clever type of connection' associated but then I guess we would have to know the mind of PJ Rubal.

I just got my Legend 4X direct from Spector about a month ago and it cost me about $110CDN plus the shipping cost for UPS Standard shipping. Brokerage is around $60 CDN, plus 6% duty on the invoiced/declared value of the bass, plus an additional 5% federal GST tax on the CDN dollar value of the bass.

So, on a $1500 CDN bass you're looking at around $225 CDN plus the freight itself.

If you use UPS Express service they include customs clearance so you save the brokerage fee but this may or may not be worth the expense.

USPS is a cheaper way for getting basses into Canada but the size restrictions they have and questionable track record I personally have had with instruments means Canada Post / USPS is not my preferred method. For smaller shipments like amps or parts USPS is the only way to go however.

Note - US made basses are not charged the 6% duty provided the necessary customs docs are completed and with the bass per the NAFTA agreement. I have bought and sold around 40 basses over the last 10 years to and from the US.

What's your thought about Forte (I mean in music it refers to a loud note, section, adjusted tone), how would you associate it to this version of the NS2 bass?

I thought that was a bit of a stretch without the HAZ. With it (as an option) it represents all of the strength of the NS-2 without the extras. "All tone; no frills." was pretty good.

That's an NS5CRFM. 34" scale 5. Awesome necks on those, different from the current ones I have played. Mine was a little thicker but totally hand shaped best 5 string neck I've ever played. Just melted in your hand. Killer B on those also. Better than some 35" basses out there. Don't see many of those. Cool color. Came with the EMG BT active tone control too ( at least mine did)

Yeah but it'll go up. All maple wings 34" 5 string. Pop a tone pump in there and your ready to go. The pump does wonders for a 5er . Never quite heard a low b growl like that.

So I brought my Spector to band practice yesterday. Besides being the most comfortable 5 string bass I own, I finally got to hear how it sounded in a band setting. Long story short, I'm impressed.

I was actually thinking of selling or modding my NS-JH5 since I never really liked the solo sound. I thought it was kinda clicky with too much high mids and not enough low mids. While I haven't figured out a panacea for the low mids, I did realize that the increased high mids sound just lovely in the mix. Let's just say I know the definition of Spector Grind.

Now I just need to fix the preamp, and I may have a new #1!

Wouldn't a HAZ be preferable? (provided you could get one )

He he... That's another place the pump shines . The 9v doesn't handle the low B the best IMO. It farts a little and looses some depth on the B. doesn't sound like a 5er ns2 like you want. But the pump doesn't care, a p/j 40, and the pump at 18v is almost dead on a ns2 5er. Just drop the pickups down a hair I think that might by why the us 5ers come with the 18v pre.
