You have learned well, Grasshoppah'. :D

This is absolutely correct.
You would have to have one of the first few from the first batch of Tone Pumps to have an issue. Anything with a trim pot is way good to go.

Played my JA-R live for the first time tonight. Weird situation, because it was a four band, one set each, thing, and I didn't use my own rig.
But I'm pretty certain I'm gonna need a three band preamp for it. Also for my rebop. My legend 4 pj (old one) is currently my go to bass, just because of my craving for strong high- mids. Guess I'm gonna have to go with three band pre's. now to decide between emg and Aguilar...

On the topic of USA Bolt-Ons, it seems as if they are no longer making any solid maple BOs. Looks like if I want a backup, I'll have to buy used or "settle" for a Euro.

I asked PJ and I believe he said you could order an all maple bolt-on. I was thinking of doing that because I want a 19mm as close to a a US NT as possible. I would upgrade to gloss and the USA pre-amp instead of the Aguilar. It would end up being a pricey bolt on though...

Will do. I have a bolt on Euro that is getting little playtime. That's only a 4 though.

I experienced the Spector goodness that you describe last night! Add a Mesa M6 and a pair of Aguilars: DB112 and DB112NT and I found BLISS......:bassist::bassist::bassist:

I might add that The beautiful White Ian Hill now has the USA9Volt now too! :D

More on the Special White Ian Hill that the club had gotten for dear brother Chris Loe (RIP):

I could write a book about my feelings about this bass, however, I can and will sum it up simply:

1. The bass ROCKS
2. Post gig, I've seen the light regarding the USA 9Volt circuit (insert Jab here Lee Presgrave...LOL)
3. I believe there is something very special about this bass....it inspired my playing last night

4. It's now my number ONE

Simple, to the point

WHITE Ian HIll model
Sadowsky Black Label Stainless
Hipshot Detuner
Spector USA 9 volt circuit preamp
Once owned by Chris Loe respected Spector Artist, dear friend to Patrick, Sam, and probably several others we know.....

I feel very emotional about this bass, how it came to Chris, how it came to me, the club members and artists that contributed to reaching out to Chris.....I know I was not nearly as close to him as some of you, but as I type, I am overcome........ I am honestly shedding some tears.......

I'm being as HONEST and SINCERE as I could be with this post

Love your family, say a prayer for Chris's family and friends and love your brother

I never knew Chris but am very happy to have played a small role in helping this bass get to him. And am also very happy that it is still bringing such happiness into this world.

This may be the answer. Since I believe the older legend pj's pre appears to be by emg, and the JAR's definitely is, I'm thinking;emg in JAR, and Aguilar in Rebop.
I've already planted the seed of future spending in my Honey's head. It didn't hurt that I surprised her by singing her Firehouses' "Love of a lifetime" at last nights show. The last time I sung it for her in public was at our wedding 21 years ago...it's still true:hyper:
