SPECTOR® Club - Part 63

Thought I'd share this here as well :)

I've been re-tracking all the bass parts for my Trailight project at home as I wasn't too happy with the takes I did in the studio so I've geared up and started ripping the whole thing appart once more!

I've recorded this track over a demo MP3 so this isn't the real deal as far as drums and guitar mixes but the bass is up quite a bit to give you an idea of what the tone will be like throughout most of the album.
2 channels one direct, clean and another through the MXR M-80 Bass DI which gives me the dirt channel.
The bass on this is not EQ'd nor compressed. PURE SPECTOR TONE!! I used my Spalt NS-2 on this one, tuned EADG.

Hope you like!

PS.
It was a B*********CH to record this as I am picking with my fingers and the patterns of the drums and guitar were hard to follow...my forearm is strong now! :bassist:

Most EXCELLENT!!! :bassist:

that poor bass, I've been following its journey with slight amusement.

obviously the original owner was some guy named Shane Grush then it went to guitar center. from there it's gone to:

smadder >> me >> baird >> aistentaciousC >> ebradford >> current owner.

so it's had 7 owners in just over two years. it really was a cool bass, I didn't care for the smadder pre, but if Baird hadn't swapped me a killer 78 stingray I probably would've kept it and learned to play five string properly.
I LOVED my former Forte 5 with OBP3 Pre, EMG 40P5/40J...when it went up for sale again I wished I had the funds to buy it back:crying:

Just got a chance to listen to this - great work as always! I hear what you mean - sounds like you got a real workout, but you're right there with them - great job!

I'm really interested in the Forte, actually. They seem like great basses, and a great opportunity to get into the USA NT at a great price, considering the USA BO's I was looking at were more then the Forte's going for right now..

I was thinking ideally I'd have 3 Spectors in the end, that would be perfect for me. My current Euro (DC's) the Forte 5 maybe (take out the DC and throw in the P with the J) and then a Rex 5 with the DC from the Forte and a new one possibly. I'm expecting my OBP-2 to come in this upcoming week and I'll do the install on my Euro 5LX shortly after... From then I'll decide what pre I go with in my next bass which will hopefully be my USA!

For now, heres a quick Ipad pic of my Euro!

You won't go wrong with a Forte :bassist: I don't believe I've heard a Euro with an OBP2...interested in hearing that.
Your Euro is GORGEOUS! Love the all gold hardware on purple!

My Euro5LX has the OBP-3 and I like it.

I've had my hands on a Euro 5LX with an OBP-2 - very cool sound. Not like the TonePump, but not "tame" by any means. It's a great preamp. I imagine the OBP-3 is just as good and maybe better with the extra control.

That's awesome! :bassist::bassist::bassist: Did it come with the OBP 3 or did you install it?

I put it in (well, my tech :D). This was my first Spector and was completely unprepared for the tone pump! :hiding:
I had the OBP-3 put in within a few weeks. In reality (so far) I hardly use the mid controls since you're locked in at 400hz or 800hz. I wish it was sweepable from say 150hz - 1.5Khz. Now THAT would rock!

I'm to the point now though where I might be open to trying a Euro4LX with the TP. Or maybe that's just SAS talking. :ninja: If I just wait for my NS-2 that'll go away. (I hope)

Is that really purple, or is the red from the background mixing with blue?

That blue on Euros has been mistake for purple before I believe. Probably a mix of colors in the background and the paint mix. Such a great color. If Musician's Enemy had that finish when I ordered my 5LX I would have picked that over the black cherry. But then I would have gotten the black cherry later. :bassist:
