Got to do the meet and greet with Lee today. Great guy and I brought the whole gang to show and tell. He has confirmed that the white Brooklyn was a beast and the UA NS-2 has now joined it's new family. Alas, I will not be able to test drive it till tomorrow morning because I am at work till 11:30 tonight. No pics of the meet and greet but here is the UA with it's new family and Lee is right pictures do this bass no justice.

Good to finally meet another Spector brother (VA subset)! Yes my new to me white Brooklyn (1116) is everything I imagined. Those older axes just have a little different "something" going on.

Coop brought his whole collection and, honestly, I was amazed. He has some sick basses. Most notable (besides the trade basses ) was the newly refinished double boxed bass. That thing really have some cool figuring to it and oil finish felt really nice.

I'm sure we looked like a couple of freaks slapping electric basses that weren't plugged in at the Charlottesville Walmart but I could have cared less. Besides have you seen some of the people in Walmart?

I have one with a red Spector logo on it I got from Patrick when he shipped me the Webster. Wish I had two. I wear my White Sox ones right now.

Wow - cool! They should have included a red Spector sweatband with every Webster!
I use my Jackass sweatband when I pick-play a lot:

I suggest the new M80 Vertigo Bass Case for the Spector. I got one of these too and it's my main case.

That's what I use, the double. I don't leave home without it. Carries 2 comfortably, huge acc. pocket(s), all sorts of places to put stuff, cord loops, etc. I can fit my Tone Hammer 500 in the front acc. pocket and when you only carry one bass you have the entire other bass compartment for stuff. Great, comfy backpack straps too.

I'm in the process of getting a new US BO on order. I predominately play finger/slap funk-soul-gospel-groove based music and rarely ever use a pick. It will have a single MM/OBP3 guts and hopefully a nice highly figured dark wood top.

What are your thoughts on the fretboard material? I have Pau Ferro, Ebony and BEM to choose from. I know what I think would look best aesthetically as well as get the sound I'm looking for, but only have experience with Pau Ferro. I owned a Fender Jazz with maple FB and remember not hearing that much of a difference between that and my Euro 5 with the Pau Ferro.

Any thoughts you guys might have would be helpful! Thanks!

One word for you Brad... Ebony. Just my preference, and the abalone inlays really POP!

Someday when I can afford to drop the cash for a custom order- it will definitely want BEM. This mostly due to appearance, as I've never noticed a huge difference sound-wise in the different materials...

I only have experience with the Pau and Ebony (at least till tomorrow) The Ebony board has a little more zing to it and the grain is tighter. Out of the two I prefer the Pau due to the midrange of that wood suits my style better. I also like the lighter wood, but I really don't consider that in my decision. The Pau seemed like the half way point between the older Rosewood fretboards and the Ebony.

. Yeah that's a sleeper mod for sure. Really takes the pump to a new level and most are quick to toss it. It really is a great pre, but sadly gets no love.

I can honestly say I was going to ditch the Tone pump. I was originally going o bid for the eBay NS-2A preamp, then found a fellow club member was bidding for his stage bass. Then I thought about the EMG BT circuit. Then I was driving home and passed a Radio Shack. Ran in and bought a 5 pack of 9 volt connectors and wired it up to 18volt. I couldn't believe the sound or why it doesn't come standard like that with 18v. My only concern now is I have a EMG35P4 and EMG35TW that I want to eventually put in. Will the tone pump still live up to its current standard. Obviously the new EMGs will sound completely different, but I am going to hold on to the Tone Pump a little longer, I got some new love for that pre amp.

The Ebony had a more pronounced high end than the Pau Ferro. The Pau was more mid focused. Ebony has a tighter grain than Pau and the Ebony is IMO faster.
