Because I play bass, guitar, drums and keys, I've finally accepted the fact that I will never be completely GAS-free..

truth... I my gigging basses are a Czech made CRFM, Korean made NS2A and a Korean made Legend X (this bass killed it on our short run this weekend)

My NS2A is a quality instrument with no modifications, it's a great platform and can be used to convert to fretless or add active pick-ups...heck, I can even pull the stain off of it to see what the wood looks like!

Part of me would love to give a Spector 5 a try. I get the itch every once in a while for a 5er, buy one, immediately regret my decision, then sell it. So I don't know if I should bother.

I also want to get my hands on a US Bolt on, but do I go with a bolt on NS or a Coda?

Spector just makes too many cool basses!

Have you tried a 34" scale or just 35"? Some guys have issues going from one to another. just a thought.

I also agree with Bunk about the comfort of a Webster! My US BO is a Webster spec'd neck and I have to agree that is in THE most comfortable bass I have ever played! Every Spector 5er I buy will have that profile!

Well if you want to play one of the most comfortable Euro 5 strings ever built, I might have one for you.

I'd have to be at least 5x cooler than I actually am to be able to pull off such a badass looking bass!

The scale doesn't really bother me, my issue with 5 strings is the fact that I never use the B for anything more than a thumbrest. lol

Got the Black Cherry NS2 (Scarlet) packed up and heading off to play some music...to early to be getting up but what the heck!

I asked Mike if I should post these pictures but I can't resist, getting excited to see the end result but I like the progress pictures of the build as well....this is so cool, nice leather work!

Let's see, sell the Aerodyne, which the market at the moment is barely $200, if that, and then save up for the next eternity to come up with other $1500, which my wife would never allow me to spend that much on something that isn't related to updating something around the house OR spend a mere fraction of that to mod the Aerodyne.

I can mod the Aerodyne all day long and still easily keep it below her financial radar. And if it get's screwed up, who cares, it's a dime a dozen Fender.

I'm trying to keep this within the realm of possibility, besides the Codas are dual jazz p'ups, the Aerodyne is a PJ config, which I very much prefer. I'm sure Spector would build a custom Coda with PJ p'ups, but again, there's that money thing.

I understand totally about the pricing...I believe in the last thread someone mentioning there's a PJ Coda coming soon? That'll ROCK!

^that and coda's don't come with tone pumps. the import coda pro has a tone pump jr. which is not the same circuit.

Easily swapped out for $99.

Thanks man. Yeah definitely better stuff now, but that bass was great. It's actually going to be on tour with a Dutch metal band called Delain - they're opening for Kamelot. I guess their bassist didn't want to travel with his basses (can't blame him) so he bought mine for the tour. I'll actually get to see it in action if I got see them when they come through here.

I just sold my plum Euro, but with my 2 USA & 1 Euro, I won't miss it too much.
Used the funds to buy a Hughes & Kettner TM18 head & a H&K 1 x 12" cab - what a killer little guitar rig!

I do that too, but on a smaller scale. I keep around $150 to $200 in the "hidden" Paypal fund. Any more than that and I start to feel guilty, like I could get something nice for the kids. This last tax return we got them this:

Oh well, everyday the three of them play on it and I hear how happy they are, it was worth it.

Besides, had I not opted for the playset, I would've ended up paying for one anyways through alimony payments and I only would've gotten to see them play on it every other weekend and 3 weeks in the summer.

I too had to bite the bullet this summer(no pun intended) and pay the dentist the amount for TWO custom NS-5XL builds to have 2 teeth implants I thought long and hard...2 teeth...2 New NS-5's. But my singing had been effected by the teeth loss for 3 years and its been an ongoing process of not being able to eat on one side for 7 years. No brainier there...unfortunately.

No joke - I had my first (and hopefully only) implant finished this past spring. When all was said and done I was easily out of pocket at least $2500 if not more. And that's WITH insurance.

Not sure if you guys remember but a while back PhatBasstard found Tim Gaines, from Stryper, NS2JJ. He and I were able to work out a deal on the bass. I had been looking for this bass since the 90's and even Tim didn't know where it was as he sold it after he left Stryper. When Phat got the bass it had been stripped down to the bare wood. I had it restored back to it's former glory. It just arrived Friday and it turned out great. Here is a photo:

That dang UPS truck that delivered my Ultraviolet made me nervous, I was so excited and then he didn't make the drop until 6pm that night...he tried to slip it inside of the garage because I had the door open but seen me pop out the front door, only had a half hour to connect the 9v battery back into the saddle and test it out before practice...lol

Still hasn't been delivered, but apparently its out on a truck so it WILL be delivered tonight. They're done their routes at 7:00 and its 5:30 now, so not too much longer to go hopefully, but the waits been killing me!
