Ah. You're in the same ship I sail in. Here's what you could do. Save up forever in paypal, and when you have enough money, get your stack and tell her its a $200 bass. She'll never know the difference. Lol

I do that too, but on a smaller scale. I keep around $150 to $200 in the "hidden" Paypal fund. Any more than that and I start to feel guilty, like I could get something nice for the kids. This last tax return we got them this:

Oh well, everyday the three of them play on it and I hear how happy they are, it was worth it.

Besides, had I not opted for the playset, I would've ended up paying for one anyways through alimony payments and I only would've gotten to see them play on it every other weekend and 3 weeks in the summer.

No hostility here. I just suggested you purchase a Coda. You went off on your personal finances and relationship.

I get you - we all work within our prescribed budgets. I'm glad you are working on a fix for the Fender, and I hope it works for you.

Regarding my Alex Webster sig bass, your description of the blood spatter was "cheesey". That's your opinion, and it was one I didn't appreciate. No big deal.

I chose poor wording, and for that I apologize. I meant no disrespect to the man who requested it, the man who designed it, nor anyone who purchases and plays it. These days it's just not my cup of tea.

It's all good in here man.

For the record, I used to thrash on one of these for a couple years:

I got all kinds of comments, some good, some bad. I didn't care, I loved it and it sounded like a bowel movement from god. No blood splatter, but lots o beer and other various fluids that I'd rather not discuss in this forum.

I would love a US NS-2 or even a Euro, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. I started with a Legend 5 used from GC. It ran about $300. I was lucky and it already had been upgraded with a new pre & pick-ups. The legend are great playing basses, just ask many of the member here who play them. My next bass was a late 80's NS2A. They go for between $500-600. This is as close as I will ever get to a US NS2 and I'm OK with that. It plays so sweet and sounds as a Spector should. So enjoy your kids, save up a little and start with a used Spector when you can afford it. You won't look back after that.

5 yo quads? Ouch. I bet they are fun as all get out though.

I'm perfectly happy with my Rebop 5 and if I can turn my Fender into a stealth Spector I'd be even happier.

I first started my Spector addiction with a Legend 4 Bubinga back when they first started the Legend series. It had a baseball bat neck and the top was carved but the back wasn't, so it was very much like a Warwick 'vette. Heavy as hell, but had way better p'ups and pre. I loved it, but thought a Warwick was what I wanted. After two different 'wicks, I eventually came back home and been here ever since. I'll never leave again.

Not sure if you guys remember but a while back PhatBasstard found Tim Gaines, from Stryper, NS2JJ. He and I were able to work out a deal on the bass. I had been looking for this bass since the 90's and even Tim didn't know where it was as he sold it after he left Stryper. When Phat got the bass it had been stripped down to the bare wood. I had it restored back to it's former glory. It just arrived Friday and it turned out great. Here is a photo:

lol. I know. But I see it this way, if I dont get one sometime within the next year, I'll never get one. So I'm off to saving. Mama may be mad, but we have 5 kids and almost everything is for them. I'm not trying to sound like a selfish 5 year old, and believe me, I'm not, but we sacrifice so much for them and all I want is one awesome bass (imo, of course). Then I'd be content and shut up about it. Ok folks, back to your normal t.v. program

Personally, I like the bloodspatter. I don't like the red inlays, though.

I agree. They just cast red-pigmented epoxy inlays, and they are rather plain-looking. The red material used in the logo on the headstock would have been much better for the inlays.
I saw CC on the Summer Slaughter tour last summer; their guitarist plays a Dean guitar with identical red inlays.
