lol. I know. But I see it this way, if I dont get one sometime within the next year, I'll never get one. So I'm off to saving. Mama may be mad, but we have 5 kids and almost everything is for them. I'm not trying to sound like a selfish 5 year old, and believe me, I'm not, but we sacrifice so much for them and all I want is one awesome bass (imo, of course). Then I'd be content and shut up about it. Ok folks, back to your normal t.v. program :)

Oh I hear you brother, and I intend to collect someday, but I'm still in the middle of the sacrifice part. Our yungins are 5 (girl), 3 & 2 (boys). I figure I'll be ready to score daddy a really nice Spector in a few more years. I'll have to liquidate some gear to help offset some of the cost, but it'll be totally worth it. Till then, it's keep the kiddies happy which in turn keeps mama happy, and when mama is happy, daddy is happy. ;)

Most definitely! Our time will come and then we can grace these pages with "nsd"! "Look what I got". lol. But the best part of all of that will be to actually have one of those killer basses in our hands. Can't wait for that day ;)

Wow thx Carey, you keep this up and I may have to put on my sons superman cape!;)
Wow is he taking orders, I think I need to place an order for one, thats awesome!

I think he is taking orders (or at least that's the way I got mine started), It's Mike Cooper from Talkbass that's putting it together and I'm sure he will read your request and get with you!

Not sure if you guys remember but a while back PhatBasstard found Tim Gaines, from Stryper, NS2JJ. He and I were able to work out a deal on the bass. I had been looking for this bass since the 90's and even Tim didn't know where it was as he sold it after he left Stryper. When Phat got the bass it had been stripped down to the bare wood. I had it restored back to it's former glory. It just arrived Friday and it turned out great. Here is a photo:

Thanks again to Phat for being so cool and working with me on this bass!

That's a very sweet bass you have Todd, nice to see it put back together!

Why would someone ever want to strip this finish is what I keep asking myself? Was it really beat up or what?

Whatever the reason, it looks great now or should I say again?

This is what it looked like when I acquired it:
NS2JJ_zpsda07a8a2.jpg

EMG's and original pre gone.
Chrome Carvin GB7 type tuners.
A very amaturish, incomplete refinish attempt.
Some routing had been done for the full sized J in the rear cavity (Spector uses the short ones as pointed out to me by Todd).

Todd, did you have the route refilled or just use the full sized EMG?

You can see by the unmatched wood coloring why this one was used for an opaque paint job originally.
Although many of you have found some nice figuring when stripping Spectors, many destined for solid color paint jobs are not as pretty underneath.
But look at it NOW! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

Todd - Congrats!

What an amazing restoration. I've seen Stryper perform many times over the years, and not only are they great musicians, their vocals are phenomenal = second to none.
Thank you for preserving a little slice of rock history, and the fact that you get to own & play that cool Spector is frosting on the cake. :bassist:

You might want to talk with Todd, I bet he knows of a new/used bass that might be the best fit for you...or...at least put him to work on it, you might be surprised!
