SPECTOR® Club - Part 65

Thank you to everyone for such kind words. I was seeing all these amazing USA NS models and such and almost didn't post for fear of import snobbery. But I saw a lot of supportive Spector fans, so I did post. :hyper:

I just picked up my Spector Saturday, and I have already had two opportunities to play with it. Saturday night I met up with a pair of guys for a band opportunity. Not really an audition, just a get to know you, jam on some songs night. Then Sunday morning I played in my church's worship band. Both times I played through my Bassman 135 and BFM 210 Jack.

To say I was pleased with my purchase is an understatement. This setup rocked my face off!!! It was awesome, I was getting thundering lows, a really, REALLY good high end, and no real loss in the mids. I received several compliments on the sound my rig was generating, and the Spector certainly had it's effect on it. It was great, I am so in love with this bass it's ridiculous.

I'm excited that you were able to obtain this, Todd. It's pretty close between this and Sting's white NS-2....but this may actually be my favorite bass in the world. :hyper:

Seeing this as a kid really solidified my love for Spector basses.

Not sure if you guys remember but a while back PhatBasstard found Tim Gaines, from Stryper, NS2JJ. He and I were able to work out a deal on the bass. I had been looking for this bass since the 90's and even Tim didn't know where it was as he sold it after he left Stryper. When Phat got the bass it had been stripped down to the bare wood. I had it restored back to it's former glory. It just arrived Friday and it turned out great. Here is a photo:

Sad day - just shipped out the first Spector I ever owned, the black cherry Euro 5LX. With the exception of my Carvin fretless which I used on a couple tracks years ago, I still have every bass I've done a record with until now. I guess I shouldn't get so nostalgic over a bass I only owned a few years, but still feel kind of bad moving it. Going to have to play the hell out of one of the others tonight.

Todd, finally found this quote on my phone :P. Congrats sir on a fine Spector! Great how you came across it. I shall now refer to it as Bumblebee. ;)

Bunk, if it makes you feel better, I used to have a disgusting habit of trading off or selling basses for others. I have a good friend who used to own my first bass I ever owned and when I asked him if he still had it and wanted to sell it back to me, he said he already sold it. I know this isn't your first bass, but I know how you feel, dude. It's all good. Afaik, you've gotten better stuff. So kudos to you.

I have never sold any of my basses and still have my first one under the bed...but...I have decided to sell my 2003 Fender Jazz so I can build up the funds for my Coda P-bass, this might be hard to do but at least it will be for something better!

Don't have any fear, we support Spector in this club and that means USA, Euro, Korean...we like them all!

That dang UPS truck that delivered my Ultraviolet made me nervous, I was so excited and then he didn't make the drop until 6pm that night...he tried to slip it inside of the garage because I had the door open but seen me pop out the front door, only had a half hour to connect the 9v battery back into the saddle and test it out before practice...lol

Thanks man. Yeah definitely better stuff now, but that bass was great. It's actually going to be on tour with a Dutch metal band called Delain - they're opening for Kamelot. I guess their bassist didn't want to travel with his basses (can't blame him) so he bought mine for the tour. I'll actually get to see it in action if I got see them when they come through here.

It helps when you have the new bass it's paying for already. :)

In my case, the cash from the Euro will pay off the balance of my fretless build, so that helps a lot.

I just sold my plum Euro, but with my 2 USA & 1 Euro, I won't miss it too much. :bawl:
Used the funds to buy a Hughes & Kettner TM18 head & a H&K 1 x 12" cab - what a killer little guitar rig! :bassist:

Yeah when the money goes towards something new, that dulls the sting. :) That's why I'm trying to make myself hold the money for the day PJ tells me the fretless is ready rather than using it as a deposit for something else!

That sounds like a logical plan. :bassist:

Because I play bass, guitar, drums and keys, I've finally accepted the fact that I will never be completely GAS-free..:D
