I just recently(last week), up graded to the 18v conversion. I have it set at about 60-65%. I run through an SWR 200 and a custom 4x10 cab. I don't really gig out, so it's primarily home use and I love the new setup. It does give a gritty , growly sound with all the amp settings flat and just adjusting through the bass. I would have to differ to JPS or others if the conversion has any long term effects, but so far I have not been able to stop geeking out about the sound. I occasionally play worship services for youth ministries and have always gone DI to the mix. Even then they would always roll down the bass, I might have. To take it in and just see how much it overloads now? (Dr. Evil Laugh)
Time to get packed up for tonight's show, going to bring Iris the Ultraviolet bass out with me...wish I had more room on the stage so I could bring more than one NS2 and the fretless bass! Who else is playing this weekend?

. Yes Donny the cavity has to be undermined so that you can fit a US 9 Volt circuit in there(I mean HAZ
)without making the opening bigger. That way your control plate will still fit properly. There is a white NS-2JA-R that was retrofitted with a HAZ and it was done in such a way that the control plate didn't cover the new route.
So 50% would be with the Tone pump set level and 60% would be around 10% boost (I think I'm right because you said in the video that the Tone pump has a + or - gain)?
Are we talking trim pot setting or eq knobs settings? My understanding is that the EQ knobs are boost/cut with no center, and the trim pot cuts output to keep from blasting your amp
The plastics nuts are not so special on the NS2A's.
They usually split or wear down.
I have ended up replacing with a Brass one on all my previous NS2A's.
You'll probably need a luthier to make and install an new one...

what brand of music stand is that? I have a couple of classic Manhasset's that I 'borrowed' from the colleges I attended, but looking for one with collapsible legs/rubber foot nubs so I don't scratch my hardwood floors!

Not sure, I'll look when I get home. I'm at work for a few more hours. It's heavy duty and has the rubber feet. I really have a hard time figuring out which I want to play at times. But, no matter which I choose it always sounds smoking.

"Big Blue" in! With missing all the talk about BEM vs. Pau in the last 4 pages of part 64 I'd like to chime in with my thoughts...I find Pau Ferro is warmer over all, more mellow tone...where BEM is fuller in the bottom end, more grit in the mids and just a bit brighter in the highs, IMHO, thats comparing bolt-on to bolt-on. I do love not only the looks of BEM but also the over all tone. One day I'd like to try an Ebony FB.

Sam...maybe you can chime in about the tone difference of your former NS-2JJ with Ebony FB compared to PF? That's one sharp looking Spector!And my Former NS-2JJ Redwood finally made it safely to it's new owner in New Zealand.
