I just refinished my Legend 5 from gloss to matte and changed out my pre to TP. No wonder it sounded totally different.......
That is interesting though. How did the change in finish affect your basses tone?
I will say after not playing a fiver in quite a while, I think I prefer my 4banger (NS2A) I just feel so clumsy on my fiver.....

I was wondering if somebody could tell me what year Spector started putting reinforcement Rods in the Necks of NS-2's and are all NS-2s 3 piece necks? I tried google but couldn't find the answer.
I believe that it was 87. I know 1509 that I have, was one of the first five he started experimenting with graphite rods. As far as the 3 piece necks, all the one's I have seen are but some of the early one's might be different. I'm sure someone can answer that.
Thank you for the reply. I thought I heard either 86 or 87 but wasn't sure.
In with overly agressive euro lol and litebrite bop for now.
Ice, sending positive vibes for you! Here's to a speedy recovery.
Been thinking all morning about ICE......... Sending love and prayers. Hope Mrs ICE can give an update soon.
This club still amazes me all the time on what a true brotherhood we have. I don't take this wonderful community for granted ever. SPECTOR PLAYERS are the best.

I knew she played my basses when I was not around. BUSTED!
During the Kramer Era around 1987 they started experimenting with graphite rods. 1509 was one that had them but the majority didn't. They usually marked a "G" after the serial # on the Kramer NS-2s with the graphite rods.
In 1993 all USA Spector basses had graphite rods.
Some early SSD prototypes didn't have the graphite rods
As far as the 3-piece necks they started using 3-piece necks around 1979/1980.
I think your 1st post is right when you picked up the white NS2A that I now own. I think it may have hit a few other members as well along the way. I still have the pre that came with it (on my shelf) before I put in the TP then the MM114. Bass is currently in the hands of one Mike Lull getting a set-up/check-up......

You are correct that is the bass.
Just some history on that bass.
I ended up getting that on Ebay. It was a 7day listing and
I was the only person who bid on it.
I remember sitting in the final moments as the bidding was ending hitting refresh waiting for someone to outbid me and it amazingly didn't happen.
Eventually that bass was sold to Jeffplaysbass In Nov, 2011
Who owned it till June, 2012. I think a record for him
After he sold it. It went through 3 hands within 2 weeks before it found a home again with cableguy.
Here is some history on a another bass I previously owned.
The NS-2JAR that you see in my photo was sold to MadBassPlaya who sold it to Worshiprocker within 2 days.
It is now Cadillac Green owned by Master of Refins Mr.Bassie720
P.S. You know your insane like me when you can look at each bass you owned and recall the history of instantly.![]()
She's declawed, right? RIGHT??? The thought of kitty using one of those Spectors as a scratching post makes me queasy!
In, with both thoughts for ICE and some cool news.
Wally TRM (http://www.youtube.com/user/WallyTRM), a spector artist who plays for the hysteria has asked me to do a cover of one of the songs off of his band's new EP- I stupidly went and picked the hardest one! I might end up doing a different song than I originally planned to, but regardless of which I pick, it'll be a workout. Hopefully I'm up to the challenge!
Did the bass have the newer HAZ in it when you got it?
I love your fiver, souljourn. One of my favorites in the club.
Awwww, I love cats. I once caught one of mine lounging on my upright when I left it on its side with my door open- it was way to adorable for me to be mad!The worst I get is them sleeping on top of my cabs.
Wally is awesome... good luck and have fun man! I can't wait to see it.
