my next spector has to have spalted maple... i cant do a lot of the burl stuff but spalted wood just seems to look great.

Hey brothers . Update on the aggie 112 . Talked with an aggie tech (awesome support) they had me do a couple test on the speaker of the cab in question and it is determined that woofer is blown or that the voice coil magnet had shifted in shipping from being dropped. Either way the seller ( super guy ) by the way . Called me after I told him what the tech told me and said he had already order a replacement from aguilar and should be on my door step Monday. That's what I love about Talk bass , you'll never find that on ebay or craigslist . Outstanding ....anywho thanks fellas for the help and SPECTOR ON !

Sorry that you had a problem but, great that both Aguilar and the seller are taking care of you!!! Only problem is that it most likely won't be there on Monday as UPS is not running due to the holiday weekend.

After counting the days, look what just made it to my bench. Hello Spalty!

Got some Queensryche jammin', putting on some Fat Beams and hope to let her rip for a while before I have to go tonight. Curtis, you are the man, thanks again!

Anyway anyone considering aguilar db cabs . I must say just playing my Spectors through one cab was wow factor for me . I can't wait till both 112s are up and running . Like Jeff stated pretty much the perfect match .

Yup. I had a GS412 cabinet that I sold because I thought it was overkill for my needs (and it was). But if it had been a DB412, hmmm... Don't know if I could've parted with it. Maybe saved it for the occasional outdoor gig.

BTW... Home from work now and still waiting for the UPS truck. I hate this part.

I've decided not to sell anything. I'll bite the bullet and just ride out this little hiccup with the dental bills.
I've been down this road before and regretted selling every bass or amp I got rid of in haste, and don't need to add to any list of regrets I already have.

Well trouble in paradise . I just plugged in and the cab with the tweeter sounds blown or overdriven . The nt speaker works fine . I'm freaking out here . I've double checked everything and tried both my gk mb8 and mesa m9 and the same result . I checked the ohmmage switches too. Any help would awesome

That was pretty much my experience. You could set the string height anywhere or tune to whatever you want and it would tear it up. But that closer string spacing was what got me too. Most of the time it was no issue, but when I tried to keep up with faster stuff, I'd end up one string off on my fingerpicking hand. I'll probably seek one out when I'm a bit more experienced.

For me it was more fretting finger memory.

Ye, the spacing was only when I'd attempt something beyond my abilities and I'd get lost. The weight was another issue. Mine was close to 12 lbs. The only instrument I had that was heavier was this Hagstrom Swede guitar that was 13 lbs. That's just too much after 3 or 4 hours of practice.

Mine wasn't that heavy...10-10.5#

YES...our first Coda Pro in the club Would you post a sound clip please? What is it like tonal, weight, fit finish etc...

Here's a question for you guys.
A new ReBop 5DLX retails for $1600.
Used, it sells for $6-800.
A new Fender MIA Std P-bass retails for $1300.
Used, it sells for $7-900.
A new Fender MIA Dlx P-bass retails for $1600.
Used, it sells for $12-1300.

Why is there such a large loss on Spector resale value, given that the quality of the basses is DEFINITELY beyond that of the Fenders?

I chose the 2 MIA models based on comparable resale value for the Std, and comparable features for the Dlx.

I believe it's more of a popularity issue more than anything...popular, demand.

That finish is sick. Someone just sold a refinished legend that they stripped the black cherry off and did something similar to this, and it was just spectacular. Wish I could have afforded to snag it

This just came in the music store. They want 480 for it. Loaded with SSD's. What is a good price for these, a buddy wanted to pick it up.

I think they're $700 new, so used $400-500 wouldn't be bad in good condition.

People are in such a hurry to sell and fund a new purchase (or pay bills) that they'll take the loss in exchange for a quick sell.
Fenders are like stamps. I am sure there are philatelists that have spent $1200 on a rare postage stamp. I would shake my head at such a purchase and wonder why. I feel the same way about Fender basses.

And yet the right Fenders keep increasing in value...it's the go to bass in the publics eye. But like automobiles, there's a certain amount of markup, as everyone knows, so when you resale any bass let alone a Spector or brands XYZ, there will be a loss margin. Retail/management 101.
