That was pretty much my experience. You could set the string height anywhere or tune to whatever you want and it would tear it up. But that closer string spacing was what got me too. Most of the time it was no issue, but when I tried to keep up with faster stuff, I'd end up one string off on my fingerpicking hand. I'll probably seek one out when I'm a bit more experienced.

Make sure all cabling is good.
Turn tweeter off to determine where the distortion is coming from.
Go back and forth a few times between the cabs.
Pull the 12 and check all connections inside or if anything is rattling around in there.

I'll see if I can think of more.

seriously that action was soooo low. I jammed on that bass yesterday, its awesome.

I never had an issue with the string spacing on mine, and I was switching between a Fender P and my NS-2000/5. The issue for me was the weight. WAAAY too heavy.

Ye, the spacing was only when I'd attempt something beyond my abilities and I'd get lost. The weight was another issue. Mine was close to 12 lbs. The only instrument I had that was heavier was this Hagstrom Swede guitar that was 13 lbs. That's just too much after 3 or 4 hours of practice.

Its almost like there might be a wire loose . It almost sounds like when you don't plug in your bass all the way at the guitar jack . If you know what I mean . I'm at closing on our old house right now and I emailed the seller . So I will check the cab when I get home . Thanks brothers

Check your cables first by switching between cabinets and if its still present open up the cabinet and check all connections (might have worked lose during shipment), after all connections are verified check if there is an internal crossover devise that is dividing the signal between the tweeter and speaker and have it tested.

Here's a question for you guys.
A new ReBop 5DLX retails for $1600.
Used, it sells for $6-800.
A new Fender MIA Std P-bass retails for $1300.
Used, it sells for $7-900.
A new Fender MIA Dlx P-bass retails for $1600.
Used, it sells for $12-1300.

Why is there such a large loss on Spector resale value, given that the quality of the basses is DEFINITELY beyond that of the Fenders?

I chose the 2 MIA models based on comparable resale value for the Std, and comparable features for the Dlx.

Good question.

I've never understood this either, but I'm not complaining - this phenomenon allowed me to snag my used USA NS-2 for less than 1/2 the price of a new one.
Still, I have no idea why some of the best built basses on the planet are not holding their value as well as some of the other brands....:hmm:
