I don't want the existing contoured body (it's too flat for me) & I don't want the weight of a neckthru. *sigh* But I want a Rebop style body with custom pickup options. I know they won't do it in the Czech shop.

Well, back to the drawing board for my dream bass.

Actually I believe there is a certain flexibility for custom orders from the Czech shop. I still think an email to PJ with your desires can't hurt.

Agree, a email to PJ wouldn't hurt...he might be able to do some of your build ideas or even convince Stuart to try some of the other ideas.

If you're looking for something special, it never hurts to ask...

When I ordered my fretless, they didn't offer lined ebony fretboards, now there is one out there!

When I received my fretless, I immediately email PJ and asked about a fretted MM 5 with a toggle switch for the coil selector and he said it wasn't an option. When Todd asked him about 6 months later, it was something he agreed to do. I give HUGE props to Todd for making that happen...that was one customization I REALLY wanted on this particular build!

When the time comes, I recommend getting in touch with Todd and having some discussions about what you are looking for...you might be happy that you did!

Interesting. I like tuning in D standard because I like the low D and I really like the feel/tension of the strings. So this pedal could put the bass in standard tuning even though I've got it tuned D standard?

Correct. If you like the tension of standard D tuning, but need to jump up to EADG for a song or two, the PitchFactor lets you do that.
I am typically playing as fast as my fingers will allow me, but in lower keys, so I stay in standard E, but use the Pitchfactor to take me down to D, Db, etc.

Bunk - I'll see what I can do about putting up a clip or two with my NS-4CR down in Bb and A using the stompbox.
A keen ear will detect that it is definitely an effect, not the dry signal, so there is a nanosecond of delay between the time I hit the string and the output (especially thru headphones). That, and there is a bit of a naturally-occurring "chorus" that paints the tone a tiny bit. Nothing that anyone except an anal musician would detect, tho!

Kinda like the transpose function on my keyboards. I use it on certain songs, but it always freaks me out a bit when I'm playing, say, in B-flat and what's coming out is in F.

I have a Boss PS-6. I wonder if it would work for this purpose too? I usually use it for a detune/chorus effect.

The main function of the "Pitchflex" function on the Pitchfactor is to provide a harmony note of sorts, which comes out a nanosecond after the note you play, at any interval you want. The selector shows the major or minor interval that will result with each setting of the knob. However, the PitchFactor allows the user to set the volume of tone A and B (you can play three notes at one time using this thing - crazy). I just crank one of the two to zero, and the other one I adjust to the appropriate # of steps up or down, and adjust the wet/dry mixer to 100% wet. As I mentioned before, it is ever so slightly delayed, which is what the thing was designed to do, but you really have to listen to detect the delay, and when playing live, no one can tell (me included).
My band is all over the place on tuning. The two guitarists are constantly going from E to Eb to D to Db (drop-tuning), and I just reach down and turn one knob on my stompbox about 1/64". I win that race every time!

Sorry, I wandered away from the original thought. If your PS-6 has a wet/dry control which allows you to go 100% wet (effect), the detuner should do that for you.

Man, I have to ask. For those of you with multiple USA Spectors (or Euros), what do you do for work? lol I think I need a career change!

HA!!! Great question. I wonder that myself. I'm waiting for U.S. Spector #1, and I have already decided that I won't do this again!
It's a helluva chunka change. I am SO happy that I love my Euros.
I can tell ya that I did not purchase a new bass for 10 years (1997-2007), until I bought my Euro5, which I sold to buy my Webster.
Plus, many other costly hobbies went bye-bye (i.e. - mountain biking, horseback riding, 80% of golf playing) to make room for the costly habit of Spectors.
I still haven't figured out a way to make a living as a musician. It's all good, tho, cuz it's fun!

SAWEEET! I've always wanted an NS-2 with a Kahler, but every time I talked about it all I heard was the Kahler would just kill the tone of a bass...but on the flip side, bassists like Claypool and Wooten have them and I think they sound just fine!

I'd love to hear our thoughts and a audio clip or two if you have one!

I really love this bass, but it's not my absolute favorite. As for the sound, I don't really feel like it lost any tone from the Kahler being installed. I e compared it with my blue '86, & it sounds really close. I do have a recording of it. I used it to track a song for one of my old bands. i thought it tracked well. Here's a link to it.
