I opened a special bass savings acct. just for bass and gear... Especially now that in retired from the work world. Thank youKind of. I came from guitar first, in standard tuning but was drawn to the bass like a moth to the flame, but with a much better outcome. When I play bass, it all makes sense, I went over to 5 string pretty quickly and wanted to mimic that on the guitar. The fingerings are slightly different, being that you can keep the "box" kind of shape on 5 out of 6 strings. But it's honestly much simpler this way. On a 6 string bass you'd have (using my example) B-E-A-D-G-C but seeing as E standard on guitar has E-A-D-G-B-e I wanted the doubling up of the B which ended up making the entire fretboard much easier to get around. Jazz chords and strange fingerings like that are much easier, sometimes it can be a bit harder considering I'm missing the high e, but because it mimics the bass it makes it easier when writing songs and switching back and forth between the instruments with little effort.
Tl;dr, yeah I had to learn slightly different chords, but it wasn't such a huge deal because of my experience with bass
I think the headstock would definitely be a deal breaker as that's crossing over to the Asian models. I too like the Legend headstocks for the 4,5,6 string basses.

Not badly priced either...$149.00 on the manufacture price list. They have more economical models as well.I had an iGig for a while, loved the inside, how you could move the neck cushion around, but I didn't like the "bat wings" on the outside of it.
Now have a Protec Contego that my Euro 435 currently resides in, I think that's a very good all-around bag.
I've heard many people like the Mono bags, but I've never owned one.

Never felt there's enough padding for protection. I'm very very very careful with my bass especially during transporting, but every time I've used them the tuning pegs get turned slightly, uncool. :scowl: I lay my bass on the back seat with nothing else. I know, I know...just tune it back up, no big deal, but that tells ME that my bass is not being protected well enough. IMHO I don't care if its a $200 or $5,000 bass...I want to know/feel its being protected 100%.
They're priced as high as a good HSC...thus I haven't purchased one. I like the light weight though and that's what I need right now too.
I agree with you Bunk on the 40P5 soap bars but there's something about the aesthetics of that old fashion split P that I love and will be in my next order.
I am a special ed teacher, have multiple children, work a second job, and even when i was in a signed original band, kept a cover band around to get 100-200 a night........gear fund my friend, make one, if you don't have a second job, get one.

THIS!! I'm a work the parts counter at a local HVAC distributor, while looking for a teaching gig out west...so I don't make that much money. I have an envelope that I keep in a safe in my room...once it hits a certain amount, I start looking!

I should also state that I hate hauling around a HSC...I tend to knock it on every doorway I walk it thru!

I try very carefully not to knock into everything...bless my wife, such an angel, she's been my "roadie" since my neck surgery (1 month this week, pain free!)That's when I seriously started to think about a padded gig bag for weight purposes.

You don't know how many times in the past I've looked at buying this bass. Thanks for the pic...I forgot about the HS on that model. The color looks like a midnight blue in photos but I believe it's black. Midnight blue would be awesome!
