Spent the weekend back in the studio. Really been offline but the Spector 435LX's were great. This time I used both the black (18VUS preamp and stainless steel strings) and natural (tonepump and nickels). Gave me some variety in tone which really worked out well.

Any Micro Amp users in the club? Trying to gather ideas of what might pair well with the new Euro. Punchy and growly, but don't want to break my back carrying it around. Figured it was worth throwing out there.

I really liked the GK mb500 when I had it.

I have an SWR Headlite. Great sounding amp for smaller gigs, pairs nicely with a 1x15" cab, and is feather-light.

Are the Korean Spector's good? Thinking about the legend classic 4 , buying it new the GC s here don't have any Spector's and no one locally has a Spector.

Cool! My NS-4 with its 18v pre sounds wicked with stainless steels.

BTW, I'm surprised to see you are selling your Hamer 12. The Hamer 12-string/Moog Taurus combo is deadly sounding....

All Spectors are good. It's actually amazing that the quality of their entry level line is so high. Beats many other brands in my opinion. Go try one, you'll see for yourself

I was using a Tone Hammer 500. Great little amp but just wasn't quite my "cup of tea". Now I'm back with my GB Shuttle 9.2. 900 watts out of a 4lb amp. Too cool.

I've sold my Aguilar GS412 / TCE Blacksmith rig and bought an Aggie DB212 to pair with the Shuttle. Now my rig is half the size with almost as much power and just as much tone. Rocks to high heaven.

I'm tying out a TC Electronic RH750 currently.
Forget what you read here on TB about it, its warm, punchy and loud as hell.
Completely burried my GK MB500 and hangs with the Genz Streamliner 900.

Honestly, they are all pretty badass. Just different types of badass.

I also have a TCE RH450 I use sometimes too and get a pretty good tone out of that too!

I'm really interested in trting out a 435LX.
Those that know me know how much I use a HipShot D-Tuner with the Double Stop lever (dripping my E down to B).
Now I'm not convinced that 35 Bsoundes better than a 34 B, but how I do things, I wonder if the 35 would indeed tighten up a .105 E dropped to B.

Right now, I honestly don't have any big issues, just more curious.


BTW- got my SSD back- truss rod repaired. So far zero issues. Just had to make a few adjustments over the last few days as the neck settles in.

They are awesome basses! My first Spector was a Legend 4 Classic, owned it 4 years but sold to fund my 1st USA Spector. You will be pleasantly surprised. If you don't mind used may I suggest a Korean built NS-2A. These are the best bass for the buck. They're neck-thru vs. bolt-on but unbelievable fast players. And there are some FS in the classifieds by members here I believe...unless they sold already, which they move quickly. Good luck!

I've been thinking of going with the DB-212...just need funds. I'm just out of stuff to sell, except one of my kidneys, but that's reserved for a new USA Spector 5 string (Why couldn't that have been my Lottery ticket for 400M??? )

Seeking advice from you Spector veterans. I am thinking about buying a Spector Rebop 4 dlx as my second Spector aquisition. I want a Spector with dual humbuckers to complement my PJ Euro LX.

How good are the stock pickups? I have never used EMG Hz so far. Right now I'd most likely switch to EMG 35 DC in both positions, that should sound good.

Anything else to look out for with Rebops?

The HZs in combination with the right preamp can be a killer pair. My Euro ReBop has EMG HZs along with the original TonePump preamp. Its very punchy with plenty of mids. Its also very powerful...I find myself turning my master volume and gain down on my amp when playing this bass. I use nickel strings to get an even brighter sound (I'm a gospel R&B guy, so the Organ usually drowns me out otherwise). Some of the older ReBops have Aguilar OBP-1s which also pair well with the HZs. Ive heard a few soundbites, and definitely like what I heard. I guess its all a matter of personal taste, but I definitely would recommend testing the waters with the stock stuff before making a decision.

It would have the tonepump. I like the tonepump on my Euro LX, so that should be fine.
Since the bass is new, it should also have the tonepump with trim pot. Does anyone know since when the tonepumps come with the trim pot?

I guess i can ask the guy at the shop for the serial number.
