Someone have picture of fretless freatboard with crown inlays ?

There was a green one floating around out there awhile back. It came up when I was trolling for an emerald Spector originally.

Congrats! A beautiful Euro 5! You might be able to salvage the ebony by putting a humidifier in your bass case and in time it might rehydrate. Also use lemon oil liberally on it. Did you get a great price on this bass?

Yup, that is an NS-5P. You can tell by the piezo bridge and the knobs are from the 18V USA circuit. You got that bass for a great price.

For those of you who speak German me and my buddy made a short review of my Euro5LX:



He puts it on liberally after removing all strings and leaves it on for a minute or two before wiping thoroughly off and putting on new strings. He likes it and so do his fingerboards.

For Ebony.... Howard's Feed "N" Wax works great for fingerboard especially ebony. Helps keep it from cracking. I use this on my ebony fingerboard Spector's.

I had a mint Pedulla with ebony FB also cracked and even more than yours. Don't worry its just a grain pattern, very often met with ebony. Cool bass.

Look what the brown truck delivered last night!

Its was pretty rough the way it arrived, but I spent some time with it this AM with some steel wool, polish, and a new set of strings (DR Low Rider nickels), and I am in love! However, I noticed some cracks in the ebony board (I know ebony can be prone to cracking)… the store also didn’t disclose that there are chips on the side of the neck/fretboard (I know its just a clear coat, but still); has anyone experienced this issue with ebony, and what did you do about it? If this is an issue, I have 10 days to return it.

Another thing I noticed was that the truss rod nut was more like a Phillips head - all of the other Spectors I’ve had used allen wrenches, so I’m not sure if the truss rod is original (not that it really matters, as it does work).

It definately is a US model. No Czechs were produced with piezo bridges.

Wow! That's easy on the eyes! Looks like it possibly had frets at one time and made into a fretless...hard to see on small screen.

Any truth to this eBay story....?

"About 3 years ago nowI did a bunch of computer related work for Stuart Spector at his workshop inSaugerties, NY. Rather than getting paidin cash I offered him a trade of services. What I received was a one of a kind 4 sting bass.

Spector Bass contracts their products to different manufacturersaround the globe to produce all the different product lines. The bass in this auction was made by acraftsman in India as a means to display the quality and craftsmanship of theircompany. However, this product line never went into production. SO… This is oneof a handful, if not the only spector bass, to ever be made in India. You canclearly see the stamp on the back. Because it never went in to production it does not have a name, The Legend 4 is the closest description i could find.

I also got Stuart to sign the bass for me. There is apicture of the signature and a picture of him actually signing it. It reads, “ForJason, Stuart Spector”. I have played this bass less than a dozen times. It has rested in the case since Ive gotten itand is in 100% brand spankin new condition. The bass will also come with a gig bag and anextra set of strings.

I saw this too lol. It's not the first time he has put it up either. (I looked and its was brought up in previous thread parts, but I don't know if the actually story is true or not. hmmm)

Oh, that one is back huh? I remember them wanting some insane amount of money for it and it didn't budge so it went away for a while. Looks like it's back though.

Is a used India made Legend autographed by Stuart with someone else's name on it really worth $700? I certainly don't think so...not when I bought my USA Coda used for $1100 and with other Spector's like Lima's NS4CRFM currently selling for $750...

Nope. The buy it now is at $1200 which I think it was at the last time they had it listed if I am not mistaken. I know when the listed it the first time, they had it up around $2,000 which is just insane.

That's totally ridiculous, and if it actually sells for that much the fool who buys it didn't deserve the money anyway

I have two Spector basses that Stuart has signed, he signs all of his American basses...don't know who this person is trying to fool!!!

I remember this bass from last time this guy was trying to sell it.

I am not sure of the story of why or how he got this bass.

But I do know from speaking with PJ previously, various 3rd party overseas guitar/bass factories will try to get Spector to use them as their outsourced Import factory.

The Legend series are made at the same Korean factory as NS-2A's were back on the 80's. (except for a brief time some NS-2A's were made at the Samick Factory in Korea)

So this particular bass was probably sent to Woodstock from a factory in India as a sample to attempt to get Spector to use them.

Being that they never used this factory for actual production models most likely means it was substandard to the Korean Legends.

So in reality, this particular bass is a one of kind copy of a Spector that was made in some no-name factory and IMHO is worth no more then $150 even with Stuarts signature on it.

This is why forums like this are great for people from getting ripped off.

That's cool...though I've heard that said by many on here before. That's always a great feeling though. I got that when I received my Coda 5XL DLX...have it for a year now and it's not going any where. But it's not the end to all...I still would like other tools in my toolbox, i.e. a fretless, a P bass, a WCR Spector NS-5XL.
