They are hard to come by, but finding one for a good price is hard also. They pop up every once in a while. Usually around $400-500. Which is a good price for that bass.

I was seriously thinking about putting up my w#$%@k tb fortress 5 for a ns95 or 2k5. I think you should pass and let me see if I can get it

Darn Straight! Big Blue is a keeper and will remain. Ive had the Legend and recently the NS-2000/5...They're both of high quality construction but the shaping of the curved body and neck-they of the NS-2000/5 makes it a nicer build, plus the EMG/BT pre amp ROCKS!
Though I replaced it with a HAZ Copy MIK preamp. If I was to recommend one over the other it'd be the NS-2000/5 or a NS-95 is a great one also. I had one of those as well. And I thought it was my computer or cell tower service earlier today...guess not. But I eventually got thru. Persistency prevail!
That is one killer finish and graphics!!!
Usually they have very crazy low playing string action, very nice necks, plays like butter, very clear/smooth tones, deep low B string that's not muddy, punchy mids, sizzling highs. The only reason I sold mine was because the strings are closer together and neck narrower than my Coda 5XL DLX. I believe you'd be pleasantly surprised.

They all get equal playing time. If I practice 3 hours a day (which is what I try to normally do,) I will switch every hour to a different one just so I am used to them all.

Since I purchased it over a year ago I've been searching for just the right preamp to replace the nontrim tonepump and hopefully tame the top end on this beast.
Well The other day I plugged into one of my less used rigs and - BAM! I found the perfect amp/cab match for this bass and no longer GAS for a different preamp. Much to my surprise the perfect rig for this bass IMHO is a Musicman HD150 into a Bergantino HT322. That rig/bass combo just kills my normal SVT/Berg610 rig that I use for all my other Spectors. Massive grit and grind, crystal clear chords and ultra punch. I'm in love all over again.

I summarized my first gig in 10 years as an excellent experience, and it truly was. However, I had one minor hiccup during the show; broken E string.
At my request, PJ had Jimmy string my NS-4 with Spector Formula 603s. I don't play nickels, so I would change the strings immediately upon receipt of a new Spector.
I started playing bass in 1988; from the time I bought my first 4-string (BC Rich Warlock), I tried various different strings: Rotosound, GHS Bass Boomers, Dean Markley Blue Steels (I played these for 5+ years). I was always breaking the E string (playing a lot of Metallica - busy on the low E); The Blue Steels lasted a bit longer than the other brands. They always broke at the same place - right on the bridge key. Then, I discovered LaBella Hard Rockin' Steels. From the time I purchased my first set of LaBellas, I never broke another string. That streak ended last Saturday night, after almost 20 years.
Like an Indy pit crew guy, I changed my E string in less than 2 minutes, and we proceeded with the show. However, reliability is as important as feel and sound. I really liked the feel of the 603s, but I have yet to find a steel string that matches up to LaBella in terms of playability, sound, and longevity.
I gotta go with what I know. It's back to LaBella for me!

I found that I'm liking different strings and just loaded a set of Spector strings on my NS2A, I don't play this bass at shows any longer so I'll be testing them at home. The other strings I'm liking are the DR Lo-Rider medium stainless steel, Ernie Ball Cobalt medium, D'addario flat wound Chromes, and I even like the Ernie Ball Hybrid slinky. I have only broken one bass string in my life but now that I have said that I need to purchase a few more sets to be safe! What set of LaBella strings do you recommend?
In with a refin 2001 Euro -4 9V circuit. A refin 2011 Forte4 9V circuit. And the one that's currently getting all the attention from me. 2013 NS-2 J/J with Leo Quan bridge. 9V circuit goes without saying on an NS-2. Though there are a few great players that prefer other circuits.
