My first time playing live in 5+ years.
Jamming with John Castellano's band.
John owns music stores on Staten Island.
and knows Stuart from way back in the day.

John's son Richie Castellano is a member of Blue Oyster Cult.
He even played with them while Rudy Sarzo was with them

That's cool Sam, I'm sure it was nice to play out again. I'll be glad when we finish up our album and get back out there!

That green J/J is sweet!! How are you liking it compare to the others? Is there that much of a tonal difference and is it your go to now?

You know... I was going to compliment you on your signature.
For two reasons.

First, I totally subscribe to the "Tool for every job" belief. I always tell anyone who asks me that they need to:
1) Play what makes them happy
2) Have the right tools for the job.

Second, you've listed some of my favorite bass brands... Musicman, Pedulla, Spector...

Your signature rocks!

JPS - thanks for the kind words. My Dad drilled into me at a very young age that the right tool can make the difference between frustration and success regardless of what you're doing. They are words to live by.

Agreed. Sometimes, though, you can get lucky and only need 1 tool for the job...and then get unlucky when that tool breaks & you have to fix or replace it. -_-

Along these lines, the neck fix is looking like it won't be TOO bad. Just have to scrape & sand off the glue. I think I want to sand the finish off the body and refinish it, too. Not liking the cherry burst anymore. I think I want a black body with gold hardware or a white body with black hardware.
Can I use a hand sander for this and then a dremel sander for the edges, or should I do it by hand? Or, since it's going to be a solid colour, should I just pay someone to spray over it without bothering to take the old finish off?

I'm looking to change out my 40DCs in my NS-5P (they sound too scooped for me), and I would just swap out the 40P/J set in my other Spector, except its still in the shop and won't be ready until the end of the month. Has anyone tried the P-X and J-X pickups?

What are your plans for the 6LX?

Hehe, I have no idea. I have posted about it before!

The plans for the 6 are to tune it to F# and play it in Profania, which are currently out after a singer, drummer and guitarist. We'll be playing progressive death/thrash stuff. Gonna be fun!

It'll also be a great tool against the arrogant guitarists that say crap about only playing 4 strings

Here's our band playing at the Benefit this afternoon. A lot of fun & great music by all! The weather was cooperative with Sunny blue skies and 40+F!
I played thru my Ampeg B-15T and I couldn't believe how much BIGGER it sounded in this place compared to home! Of course I got to turn the volume up a bit more too.

I have them in my euro their Def hot. I just swapped out my tone pump for a haz copy way calmer and warmer according to bass tech. I'll have it back later and let ya know for sure how they sound.

Did you change the pickups from DC to P-x/J-x? If so, did you notice more mids and some mid-grind?

Thanks! It was a lot of fun and looks like they were raising a good amount. I got to talk with husband of this couple who this was for. Man...his wife's in very bad health. I talked with his wife before we left and gave words of encouragement.
After our band played our 45 min. set, we were asked to play more songs, hahaha.

That's what I was scared of with being totally content with Big Blue and one of the reasons why I bought the fretless.
