In with my NS4. Gig in early February that will be the first one with the 2 Euro 435's. I'll have plenty of pics hopefully!

Agreed. Sometimes, though, you can get lucky and only need 1 tool for the job...and then get unlucky when that tool breaks & you have to fix or replace it. -_-

I hear ya! I've Been following your neck saga for a while now and have my fingers crossed that all comes out good in the end. I must say, you have the patience of a saint.

Thanks a lot! It feels like vol vol bass and treble, but I'll have to double check next time I plug in. I really like this pre, it sounds great. I can say I almost like it better then the OBP-3 I have.

I always forget... is this the pre that comes stock in the Rex basses?

It is the pre that comes stock in the Rex-Pro series basses.
But they would be Vol/Vol and have HZ pickups so the pots would be 500K.

In the photo you posted;
The Pot with the T on it is the Treble. The one closest to the input jack is the Bass and the main control of the BTS.

The Pot in the middle to the right of the battery should be the balance pot. The Pot under the battery is the Volume.

Yep, the BTS is the stock Rex pre

Can anyone tell me what pre is in this bass? I thought it was the OBP-1 but it appears that I'm wrong. It sounds awesome!

Yep, I thought that pre looked familiar. It matches the pre on my Rex5 Pro. It's a great sounding pre and I agree its close to a toss up on which of mine I like best - this one or the the OPB-3 in my NS-2J. I find I don't use the 2 band mid sweep very often on the Aggie pre, kinda just set it and forget it.

I just worked on the 18 volt conversion on my Rex 5 and didn't even recognize it. Oops!!

I also don't even have the mid hooked up on my obp-3 so I can't really comment on that, never was a 3 band eq on board guy but when I ordered it they ordered the wrong one so I got a bit of a discount.

In with a bigger surprise then last month.
An actual photo of me playing live.

My first time playing live in 5+ years.
Jamming with John Castellano's band.
John owns music stores on Staten Island.
and knows Stuart from way back in the day.

John's son Richie Castellano is a member of Blue Oyster Cult.
He even played with them while Rudy Sarzo was with them

EMG BTS with Vol/Bal/Bass/Treble

Yep, definitely a BTS. :) Solid pre, if you ask me. My NS-2000/5 had one and it was a great tone.

I hear ya! I've Been following your neck saga for a while now and have my fingers crossed that all comes out good in the end. I must say, you have the patience of a saint.

lol Thanks. I've almost had it with it, though. I'm hoping this fix turns out. Otherwise, I'll probably unload this one & look for another Spector...unless I find some sort of windfall & can order a Maple/black block replacement neck.

I want to upgrade pickups on my NS2000/5. Need some suggestion from you guys, i'm stuck cause there are so many types, pls school me the differences between these:

EMG 45J (J pickup style in soarbar housing)
EMG 45P (P pickup style in soarbar housing)
EMG 45DC
EMG 45CS
EMG 45JCS

What's the best configuration for my bass ? I play metal (Heavy/Thrash Metal stuffs), i need punchy, growl tones.

Haz clone huge improvement in euro. Gonna sell the tone pump if someone wants it. Or maybe trade for something. Pm me if interested.

I found the same with my NS2A. I had the TP in it, put in a MM114 and it sounded great. If I ever get another NS2A I will put the TP in that one. Both pres sound really good, just different. But for my ear and style of play, the MM114 was just a step above the TP.

For a while there I was in complete agreement with you, anything would sound better than the non trim tone pump in my Euro. However, quite by accident a few weeks ago I plugged my Euro into an old Musicman HD150/Bergantino HT322 rig I have and - WOW. It's the perfect rig for this preamp. I couldn't be happier with the tone.

So at the end of the day it took several string swaps to find out the Elixier Nanos (still need to try some Sunbeams) along with a discontinued 30 year old amp combined with a discontinued 10 year old cab would be the silver bullet for my Euro.
