I've never had Spector build a custom bass but if I did it would look a lot like yours but with maybe a jazz pickup added all the way up next to the heel. Jazz/MM OBP-3, hmmmmmm now that sounds uniquely interesting.
Love the look of buckeye burl especially in the grey and blue shades. Does the buckeye burl add a lot of weight to the bass? For those of us that have never played or heard a MM equipped Spector - what would you say it sounds closest to, a Stingray, a G&L, a Precision, a Thunderbird, another Spector, ???

So far I pretty much hear a stingray. I dialed in a tone VERY similar to Flea's sound on 'Aeroplane'. I'll def have to spend some more time with it as it's a completely different animal than the fretless!

Thanks to everyone for their positive comments! I'm going to spend the rest of tonight getting acquainted with my new baby and will get some good pics to post tomorrow! ...I finally get to post a FAMILY shot again!!

I can assure you that if you have a specific Spector build in mind, Todd Cooke is THE MAN to make it happen!!!

I'll need to get a set of DR Hi-beams (35-110) on it and set it up, but I see this being one BAD@SS slap machine!!

Just finished running through a set list with the Coda. That thing takes some getting used to, all right. Tony - you were NOT kidding!
I gotta get a separate (longer) strap for that thing. That body naturally rides a lot higher than the NS body style.
Electronics question - I'm assuming that the Coda 4 is discontinued now, in favor of the Deluxe model. The Coda 4 has the stacked bass/treble knob (love it!) for the active circuit. What is the difference between the OBP in mine and the 5-knob config in the newer Codas? Anything besides the separate bass and treble knobs?

Yeah, by day two it started feeling normal and by day three I was able to comfortably switch back and forth between NS style and the Jazz. It's a nice change once you get used to the body.

As for the preamp, if you lift up the old school jazz tone knob, it'll go into passive mode. In active mode, it was weird, but cool, to be using the preamp BT stack AND the passive tone knob at the same time... It worked in active mode. Pretty cool!

I'm not a big fan of the passive sound. I have always been a fan of active electronics. This one's no exception. Still, the tone is much different. No real growl or high miss at all. It has that nasal tone like Fenders do. I gotta play with the pup volumes and BT stack more, but I like the bridge pup around 50% and the neck pup cranked, treble just below the center detent and the bass just above it.
So far, so good!

Same preamp just not stacked.
