Well damn, I never noticed that. Plans thwarted......

I know, I have been seriously bummed :(

Yeah, I ran into the same problem when I bought a set of PJAX EMG's for my NS2 and they came with the LJAX. I was lucky though and sent the J back for a SJAX exchange. When I told the guy on the phone getting my RMA number he said, "You have a Spector don't you." :D

Now I'm not quite sure what to do. I may keep as is and figure out something for the Geezers, I would prefer to avoid any routing. I was thinking this was the solution being EMG's, but I completely forgot about the whole short/long jazz pickups.

I dig it. Believe it or not,I'm looking for a four string...

Cool! I was curious to hear your thoughts on it since you had the soapbar added. I've been seriously considering having a J pickup added to mine to add a bit more 'meat' to the tone. ...especially since I use pretty light gauge strings. About how long did it take to have it added??

I can relate to wanting a 4 banger or two! I think the next Spectors I buy will have 4 strings.

I would say do it. It gives the bass a little extra I was missing! I had it routed for a soap bar so I can change it. I prefer the DC 40J over the DC 40 at the neck. It took a month to get it done.

Would anyone here with a 'Kramer era' neck profile bass care to fill in this chart:

My 'Kramer era' Spector NS-2 has the exact same neck dimensions as Patrick Stern's Brooklyn era #739.

Anyone know when the neck profile changed? My bass was born in June 1986. It was one of the first ones to have graphite rods inserted in the neck, so I know the neck profile did not change at the same time as they started using the rods for added stability.

are you looking for Neck width or Fret width?
Width at nut? Nut or neck. The nut isn't as wide as the neck under it and the nut width my vary from one to the other.
I can give you string spacing if you want.
