This is for the owners of the Korean Spectors:
You dont have to drop $5000 on a Spector to enjoy their basses. If you arent able to buy a USA model then you should really look at some older Korean models rather than jumping on the Euro line. I dont like the PJ pickup configuration,nor do I prefer a bolt on neck over a neck through bass. I bought an NS2000/5 years ago. I decided one day that I would "upgrade" to a Czech made Spector. I tried several Euro basses and eventually decided to keep my NS2000/5. The Euro basses didnt play any better,they didnt sound any better (my Korean bass has an EMG BQC preamp and DC40 pu in the bridge-CS40 pu in the neck) The soapbars,brass nut,bridge,everything was either as good or better than what the otners offered. Granted a US made Spector is a different beast altogether but there isnt another Korean or Czech bass that they offer that I felt was a better bass. Weight is something that I should mention here. The NS2000/5 is a heavy bass. Its body is solid maple and you would think it was petrified as heavy as it is. Most other Spectors I have tried are lighter.

the last Spector I owned was a MIK Quilt 5 that I sold to a friend of mine while going through my divorce. Burned up in a house fire about a year later. Was a great bass and I miss it all the time but you know. Divorces are expensive.

Yes,divorces ARE expensive. Which is why I am 46 and have never been married. Have a girlfriend like I am 25 years old
She doesnt pose a threat to my basses,though.

My 87 NS2A is a great playing bass. It's very well built, a little beat up but it's not a collector piece. I think they still use the same factory?

My advice. Assume all he says is a lie. Threaten with BBB and TN AG. That was advice from someone else and how they got their guitar back and what got mine after 14 months. Hope he does better work for you.

I almost went this way bc it was a cheaper option than my CR. But the bodies are larger and the weight was an issue. Then I got my NS4 CR and it's still 10 lbs. It's a wash I guess.

Thanks! Yea, I've already contacted BBB. Like you said, all he says is a lie. I was promised 5 times that 'it'll be ready in two weeks or next week'. And no words from him for a month of course after each lie.

I like the Korean Spectors but I do really rate the 'bowl cut' of the proper NS body. I think the Euro are really a market leader for features and quality at their price range. They were even more remarkable in years gone by when they were comparitively very cheap new. The first Euro Spectors I saw for sale in the UK were £1000 brand new!

Furthermore, needed to be 35" scale 4 string for tuning down (please note, this was all before the fanned fret model came out that I could have plugged the Inez into in place of the stock neck pickup).

Anyway, bought a used Euro 435LX. Had the routes filled, and then rerouted for the single Inez pickup. At this point, sent it off to Sims Custom Shop Guitar Refinishing in Chattanooga, TN. Paid and was told 14 weeks turnaround. Long story short, it took 14 MONTHS, I was lied to over and over, and only when threatening legal action and calling the TN AG did he suddenly have it done. To further the story, he did a crappy job. Reviews showed lots of people in the last 2 years in my boat waiting months to over a year for their guitar. The sad part on mine is he did it super quickly I think and did substandard work. Spots not filled, sprayed it where the top was not smooth (I mean, let me know it needs advance prep and maybe I'd have paid more, etc. etc. etc.). It looks good from 6', but up close it has a lot of spots left to be desired (including a spot or two where he couldn't even be bothered to spray some filler). This is not just my dumb customer opinion. The professional repair shop here that put it all together agrees 100% with me.

All that being said is it is back together, sounds badass, and can't wait to test it at rehearsal next week. The paint issues won't be seen on stage or from a distance at least. At some point, I'll likely get someone that is not a complete asshat to properly prep it and repaint it. Until then, gonna have fun with it.

That sucks. Unfortunately this is nothing new for Sims. Been going on for many years. IMO, a 14 week lead time is unacceptable especially for what I would consider a standard refinish. Wilkins quoted me 6 weeks and had it done in 4. Marty Bell did a body in 3 weeks. Like the concept you came up with. Hopefully you can get it finished to your satisfaction.
