And once the new owner tries to register it for warranty.... there will be a claim with eBay for a refund..... after his taxes are filed, I'm sure..

I was able to find out that it was #8 and not #9.....the warranty is a separate issue that may bite back

And since it was the first Forte4 (#001) Spector agreed to make a replacement for Tony and add the "R" to the serial number. Once again this shows how cool Stuart and PJ (I'm sure Todd played a part too) and Spector in general is. Kudos guys!

Spector is a family business, if you own a Spector bass then your part of the family....if you sign up for the Spector Hang you will get to witness what I'm saying for yourself! Now that I have said this there will be some of you that will say something like 'They just want to make money'....well, yes they do because its what pays the bills and keeps everyone on staff employed so they can build these killer basses that we enjoy! AND...we are up to 15 people attending the event, this is exciting as most of the guys who attended last year have already said 'count me in for the hang'.

I just wanted to share that fresh batteries do wonders! lol..I've never had a battery die on me but after playing my new-to-me Rebop for a few weeks now, I new it was missing 'something'..I replaced the Trim Tonepump with a 18V HAZ. Was there a change? yes...an improvement? meh I suppose...

Underwhelmed, I put the Tonepump back last night. Had the cover off, connected the battery, adjusted the trimmer -practically dimed at this point. While doing a quick once over before screwing on the cover I ended up knocking the battery out and it fell somewhere. Being lazy/tired I just went and grabbed a new one, connected it...WHAM instant power, like night and day!!...now I really had to scale that gain back lol. Incredible Spector tone now crazy tho that I must've had 2 bum batteries when the 18v HAZ was in it...

Love my 18V with 35DC's....best sound for fretless I have ever heard!

Obviously!!! LOL And you are right, the Forte used prices are ridiculously low for what you get. Same can be said about the US Bolt-ons. I think the NS-2 is the holy grail so if it's not an NS-2, somehow the used market additionally discounts all other models made by Spector. If a US Bolt on was made my another US boutique shop, they might be much more appreciated, IMO. They are amazing instruments for the money.





Yes, the idea for a tribute Forte #001 was actually Sam's. He and I were discussing his Spalted Forte when I was looking for a replacement for the 001 and, even knowing he could have made a sale, he came back to me with the idea for the replacement and said he's be happy to present the idea to Stuart, PJ and Todd to help facilitate it. Of course, I loved the idea, got the green light from Spector and worked with Todd, who's been great, to get it done.

Great guys all around and I couldn't be more appreciative! My thought that the #001 would be "The One" still stands. Can't wait!

Per my understanding it would go something like this:

1) Person that files as a professional musician has two eBay accounts
2) Person lists their own bass for $7500 on account A
3) Person "buys" their own bass from themselves for $7500 on Account B
4) Receipt is generated for the purchase, that is used as a tax write-off for the purchase price of $7500
5) Person declines to submit the receipt for the "income" generated by the sale on account A. This is somewhat risky (EDIT: and illegal, so...don't do it) but generally something that's below the IRS' radar.

End result, at worst this person pays 13% of $7500 to eBay/Paypal to get a receipt for a $7500 purchase. If they "pay" themselves via alternative means (e.g. "he sent me a check") then they can bypass the 3% from Paypal and are only on the hook for listing fees.

Edit: As ChefKen points out below, eBay caps at $250 or $350 for their percentage cut.

$250-350 + minor fees for a $7500 tax write off is fairly handy if you owe money or are close to it.
