Wait till he shows you his Back Tat of full size Spector Double S logo...That's definitely approaching the line of ridiculous, though it is debatable whether you have crossed it or not![]()

I saw that... almost bid on it...Yes I have gone insane. I picked up this Spector Banner on Ebay to hang in back of my basses.
My wife says I made the living room look like a store.

LOL, ya, no, it's not Ray Way, lol.So....
It's not "Ray Wayne"?
Did "Ray" send you this email between him and PJ?
He still has it listed as an NS2 despite what PJ said.![]()

1991? It says "Late Kramer era". Didn't they go belly up in '90?! That would be extemely late.Speaking of NS-2s
If anyone is interested.
NewJersey Guitar & Bass Center has a
Kramer era and Pre Kramer era NS-2 for sale.

I played the '91 a few weeks back. Lovely, was very hard to put down.
But the price tag took it from me before I left the store.![]()

I know this isn't EXACTLY what you're looking for when you want a Spector story.
So, anyhow, I'll give a text-based bit.
ooooo
As we all know, Spector makes some of the heaviest basses out there. I like this, as it makes it more fun and comfortable to play.
To counteract the weight, we must get thick straps. That's what I did.. I got a thick padded leather strap. The thick necks as well are comfortable and fun. I wear the bass somewhat high and worked on left hand technique to prevent injury.
Too late. I developed carpal tunnel in both my wrists.
But where does Spector come in?
My NS5CRFM was almost 13 pounds, and my new Euro about 11. We all know Spectors are addicting to play. And for that reason, I was playing 9 hours a day.
Yeah, I got better. I got way better. But, recently, it's been found that I have a slew of problems directly related to this.
My left shoulder sits lower than my right, and is more in front of me than my right. The ligament that runs from the neck to the shoulder is moved, and either the C3/C4 vertebrae is way out of line. My neck is shifted to the right, and the bass-related muscle growth around it makes it extremely hard for a therapist to work on.
This left shoulder issue affects a nerve that causes collapsing when pinched. It is connected through the entire left arm, shoulder, and leg and feet. The movement of my neck also affects nerves that connect to the left and right sides of the neck just below the shoulders, and has moved the right shoulderblade over crappin' out another nerve. This connects down my right leg and foot.
Carpal tunnel in both wrists (due to improper technique, not the weight and obsessiveness of the bass) causes aches and burns in both hands which also need to be worked on.
I have to attend physical therapy twice a week for probably the next five years.
ooooo
On a non-bass related note, I also have a hole in the right side of my back due to a torn muscle I never got fixed, and that needs to be worked on as well.
This is seriously making me reconsider gigging again, which is the only reason I decided to move out with my dad. Also, if I don't get this fixed, I doubt I'll be able to pass the PFT for the military -- my career choice since I was a little kid and still today.

First of all...I'm envious of your move! I've thought about moving out there dozens of times! I was stationed at Cannon AFB 4 yrs. Visited Albuquerque a few times...love it!
Secondly...I'm so very sorry about your back/neck/shoulder problems! I feel your pain bro!!! I had the same issues start in Nov. 2010! Except carpal tunnel...dealt with bi-lateral carpal in 2000. Operation...alls well! But in Nov. I was having muscle cramps/knots in my left & right scapula and the extended into my left & right trapeze muscles. After trying to fix myself and also seeing a chiropractor and masseuse until Feb. I finally went to my Dr. Found out that I had a torn shoulder Labrium, upper Bicep, rotator cuff and brucitis. The muscle cramps were just a side effect of the tares. So I started playing my Spector bass sitting on my lap...did PT 2 weeks which made it all worse...had left shoulder surgery May 25th. Dr. said this was work repetitive related. My job requires me for last 8.5 yrs. to lift suit cases that weigh up to 90#s throughout the day. My bass wasn't the culpret as what was rolling in my mind too. What do you do in the service or what kind of work have you done in the past that was repetitive? After surgery my surgeon told me that over 20% of my shoulder joint has deteriorated. No torn muscles after all. I see him today and I do have questions!
Any ways, try sitting bass on your lap to play and take all tension off your shoulder strap. You'll be surprised at how quickly the body will heal.
Good luck & God bless you!
Sorry guys if we went off thread!
My apologize.![]()
