Spector Club - Part 11

Man. You hate to see people abuse themselves this way.

Have any of you tried to explain to this guy that his bass is NOT worth anything near what he's asking for it?

It's missing the original pups and circuit, plus someone drilled a hole in the body for a pickup selector switch.

If the inlays are factory, which it's hard to believe they are they look really poorly done, it might have some collectable value, but not now.

I'm curious to see how long this poor guy is going to try and get what is at best twice what that guitar is worth.

Anyone want to create pool?

Oh... and a few listing above it is a beautiful white Euro for like 200 hundred and some change more. Which would you rather have?

I emailed him several times and I know of a couple others that tried to advise him of that and that it was unfortunate that someone frankenbassed that Spector and it is not worth what a stock NS-2A is worth and gave him ballpark hi/lo numbers.

"Some people you just can't reach."


I'd rather have the white Euro...

AWESOME music going on the last two days, at the First Annual Farm Festival Memorial!!! Jamming went on yesterday till 12:30am this morning! My new Spector Ian Hill has been the talk by all! People coming up to me saying MAN that bass sounds awesome! What make is it?!

I may have over-looked this earlier when you were discussing how various models fit in the standard Spector hardshell cases (apologies if I did), but I was wondering if anyone is using those cases for their NS2-As without any problems?

Seems like they should just fit right in.

Also, while on the subject of NS2-As, back in Spector Club Part 8 a poster by the name of NS2-A said...

ugh. looks like my legend's not going to be here till tuesday. stupid holiday weekend. :mad:
anyway, quick question for you D'addario users- do you use the regular long scale or the super long scale on your 35" spectors?
reading through their site it says either set will work with a 35", but I'm just looking for a bit more info.
I've been using the super longs on my modulus, but each brand of bass is different, right?
i've been using nickels, but I may put on a set of half-rounds for kicks (and to see if I can get a more 'Dan Briggs-ish sound ;) )

I am going to jump in for phat & JPS (I have learned most of my Spector knowledge from seeing posts from those 2 gentlemen) :)
NS-2A The inlays are stickers (check out the 12 fret, it has the 2 inlay stickers to cover the 2 dots, also in one of the photos in the ad there are 2 inlays on the 24th fret and in the other there are none. Also the ad says "Original Spector P/J Pickups" Which all lead to NS-2A.

My NS-2A, Euro's and ReBop all fit the same in the standard Spector 4 string case

Regarding the NS-2A's, the later ones where produced at the Samick Factory and are slightly different. They do not curve as much and the knobs are placed in slightly different position on the body. Hopefully 'Thundar' will jump in, he owns both versions, but if I remember correctly he spoke highly of both of them.

I asked this guy for photos yesterday, and it is a NS-2A

He also has a 2nd for sale which he is calling a NS-2A. Both are overpriced at $750

He sent photos of both to me, they are both NS-2A's. One White and the other Sunburst.

I use super longs on my Legend,I also use D'addario's Half Rounds and love them....The longs will put the smaller windings in the nut so they are to short..Works for me.......!
