that's one gorgeous spalted bass!!!
Welcome to the club Rockin Mike!

Ease of use, I would say. With time, you learn how to adjust it and even out the saddle height. Inline just makes sense from the get-go, and is easier to level out the bridge. IMO offset saddle screws should never be a deal breaker, just something to consider.

I agree. With the offset screws I usually leave the back screws flush with the bottom of the saddle and use the front screw to adjust the height so that you can get that nicely defined witness point.

So with the saddles that have both screws up front, think of the intonation screw in the back of the saddle as the anchor point and the front screws allow you to adjust the height evenly in the front. So you still get the nicely defined witness point, but the whole saddle is more stable.

The diagram below should help define what I'm talking about.

The best or optimal situation for attaining intonation for your bass is to have the witness point angle match the angle of the headstock where the strings leave the nut to the tuners.

So I'm never a fan of "flat" bridge saddles. For a low string height you may have to lower the bridge saddles to an angle below that of the headstock. But as long as there is some angle to the saddles and there's a clear witness point you should be OK.

So the change in the bridge saddle height placement screws came because the back screw became useless with the addition of the intonation screw. That heavier, thicker screw controls the angle from the back. So what you were left with is a single screw in the front that controlled the height in the front and thus the witness point angle.

The Version 2.0 bridge by moving both height screws to the front simply made the saddle more stable. Less chance to create an issue where the saddle sits at an angle side to side... which would be pointless. Since it's the front to back angle that matters the most.

Does anyone have a spare NS2 case to sell? It can be pretty banged up. The bass already is, so there's no need for a pristine case. In fact, it'd make sense for the case wear to match the bass' wear.

My bass came with no case. I could buy a generic case over in the classifieds, but I'd like to get the right case, if possible. Even found a place to get a refurb for under $80 shipped (which would be fine, if nothing pops up here). [This invalid link has been removed]

I was reading some of the old pages of this thread and you guys were talking about your influences as Spector players. I know I'm late to the party, but here are my influences:

Mike Star (AIC):
This is the first time I remember seeing a Spector. This was before I was playing an instrument though and I wasn't paying attention to brands. A white Spector will always be on my gas list.

Michael Todd (CoCa):
Although this wasn't the first time I had seen a Spector, it is the first time I remember looking them up and really wanting one! I was very disappointed when I saw him playing Fenders. :hmm:

Doug Wimbish:
After getting interested in Spectors I got into this guy. I had known about Living Colour but I wasn't aware of Doug and his phenomenal playing! I really love to watch Doug and see the sounds that he gets out of his Spector!

My list doesn't have the usual "legends" like Ian Hill or Sting in it and I guess that shows my age a little. :D
