Seems all the new Wimbish models appear to have a BQC system in them? The Green, the Peacock blue and the Black Matte posted on The Basscentral site seem to have that knob configuration, as well as the one that chrisloe posted of his friends last week. The specs still say Tonepump? JPS any info on this?

There are 2 versions of the Wimbish Sig ...
The USA Wimbish is Tone Pump no optional EQ.
The Euro Wimbish is Tone Pump but you can get the EMG BQC or the Aguilar OBP-2 as an option... per the website..
But there again... it says either is only available in Amber Burst... hmm.

That's a bit thin, IMO. I have a 3 1/4" Onori that looks simular to the one you show. My Euro is 10 1/2 lbs and that strap works really well with it; no shoulder or back problems.

I use a 3" or a 4" depending on how long I'll be playing... 2.5" is just too skinny unless you play.... guitar.

I think the USA Wimbish comes with the Hazlab Preamp, not the Tone pump. I think the tone pump is for Euro's only. My Doug had the Tone Pump, but I replaced it with the USA Hazlab, sounds awesome...

Yeah I'm not sure... I just repeated what the SPECTOR website has in the descriptions for both versions... Which I am sure Lima has already done his homework and knew that tidbit of information.
I might wanna try a Haz in either my NS-2J (BTS) or Ian Hill (BQC)... or both a for a n A/B comparison ...not sure which yet though...

Correct! The USA Doug Wimbish Signature is an NS-2 with Doug's special neck profile.

The Europe Series model has the TonePump as is standard with the Euro4LX. It's the 1.5" nut that makes the Wimbish unique.

I'm going to order a USA Wimbish after NAMM this coming year.

The best feeling strap I ever had was a contoured 4" padded leather strap I bought in like 2001... I can't remember the make and I don't have it anymore. I donated it to a friend that had back problems and needed it more than I did.

4 1/2" is a really wide strap. I think if you go with something in the 3 1/4" to 3 1/2" range and padded, it'll be fine.

Just wondering what is the reason to make a ReBop bolt-on sound more like a Euro through-neck. I have both basses and like that they sound different. The ReBop is punchy and I would not want to take that away from it.

I wasn't saying that it'd sound Like a Euro but the ReBop would have a longer note sustain. The ReBop doesn't have the sound that I like particularly so that's why I no longer have one! And I now do own a true Ian Hill sig. Euro!

I say.. Here's a thought... Take your bass and go try few at the store and see if you "feel" like you prefer a certain size.
If you have broad shoulders - a wider strap might feel better.
If not, a narrower strap might feel better.
In the end.. YOU are the one that has to wear it.

+1 mine for my 10# NS-95 is 3.5" unpadded.

The problem there is the local guy's strap selection doesn't really feature anything that is remotely long enough for me or I would buy a strap from him, as he does have some nice leather ones.

I think 3 would be perfect, 3 1/2 maybe, but I don't think I can do a 4 1/2 inch strap.

The thing is that you can special order a Euro Spector with the EMG or Aguilar circuit... and you can special order a USA with a different circuit as well. That's the "Made-to-order" aspect of what SPECTOR offers. You just have to clear it with your dealer and they'll clear it with PJ. I've seen USA models made with EMG circuits, Aguilar circuits, etc... (We're only talking about neck-thru models so not to confuse the subject more, the bolt-ons come with Aguilar circuits STOCK).

The STOCK tone circuit for any Euro4LX is the Czech-Made SPECTOR Tone-Pump. That goes for the Ian Hill and the Doug Wimbish Signature Models. The TonePump is Czech made using JFET Circuits.

The STOCK tone circuit for the USA neck-thru models will be the 9v SPECTOR Circuit (made by HazLabs for SPECTOR in NJ) for the NS-2. The NS-4, NS-5XL and NS-6XL will have the 18v SPECTOR Circuit (also made by HazLabs for SPECTOR in NJ). These are solid-state circuits that use OpAmp circuits.

jps. this is a dumb question here but I notice you always write Spector in all caps, why is that? I was thinking that it might be trademarked that way, but the Spector name plate on my headstock is written with only the S capitalized.

It's a habit I developed when I created the SPECTOR website. PJ and I talked about ways to make the name always stand out from the other text around it. So I said why not do it in bold caps in the SPECTOR Gold color?

Which BTW, no one really remembers where the gold text color came in with the SPECTOR name when written. But it's been a constant in their marketing/advertising since before the Kramer days.

So when you type it as often as I find myself... the finger automatically hits the shift button until I've completely spelled the word out.

Good branding = consistency... LOL.

Well, I finally found something I don't like on my legend
The control cavity screws. A minor thing, I know, but when I went to change the battery, three came out fine, 2 gave a little fight, and I ended up practically stripping the last one to get it out
It was the same putting them back in, too.
Oh well, it doesn't change my opinion that it's a great bass, but the whole thing was a bit frustrating, and I now have the beginnings of some serious blisters from the screwdriver. Dang. Anyone else have this issue, or am I just screwdriver- challenged?
Edit; well, after its amazing performance Friday night, I'm willing to let it slide The only problem is that one of the screws is still sticking out a little. It won't go in any farther.
