I'm feeling the BUUUURNING of wanting a USA SPECTOR soooooo very bad!!!

It would be the same as the Forte Bridge.
USA Bridges are:
Gold= Solid premium brass, gold plated.
Black= Gloss enamel finish over anodized aluminum
Those are the options. So order a Forte or a "standard" neck-thru with the black bridge and it's the same bridge.

Thx! The green one turned out to be teal with that quilt type top. Different neck than this one, much thinner. I liked the pretty blue one better lol, and it needed a good home . Frets are pretty worn in spots but otherwise in great shape. Funky tone circuit in this one. Never owned a 2000 but its a nice solid bass.

Makes me rethink the whole bridge situation then. I don't want to compromise the legendary NS2 sound (if at all??) with having a different bridge....would thatbe effected in any way if the bridge is Aluminum and not Brass?

A friend of mine plays a NS-2A from the Kramer era. The neck/body is Korean but it has USA parts; EMG active pups, Hazlab pre-amp and a Spector USA bridge. He bought it many years ago from someone that said it was made at the Neptune, NJ plant from a NS-2A neck/body that was just sitting around and the USA parts were put on it to sell it as a complete bass. Today, I see another NS-2A with USA parts on eBay. Does anyone know the history of Kramer doing this? Were these customized basses or was this done as a clean up activity as the Neptune plant was shutting down?
Helluva collection!! I almost brought Daves bass back in 1991,if this is the same bass that is.
It was being offered through Bass Central. Was about to buy it then i found a new NS2 at Corner Music in Nashville. I wanted a stock Ns2 Was curious does the Kahler affect the tone? This was the main reason i bought the other Ns2

While I think that gold harware on Spectors is both classic and classy. It is not for me. My CR4FM came with the solid brass bridge. The textured looking one that they used back in the day. To me that massive chunk of bridge is part of the formula. In a blind test I probably could not tell the difference
But that does not stop me from wanting my brass bridge. I sent my bridge to a fellow that does golf putters. He did a black oxide treatment. 1 year later it still looks perfect. Another option would be a black chrome treatment. From what I understand it is not too hard to do on brass. The saddles were chrome plated.

Love the body color. Is that redone or was it a white that has turned to cream over the years?
Possibly. More common though is there are some NS2A's floating around with actual USA bodies/necks as they were trying to use up stock and get the last inventory out the door in their last days.
I've never seen an actual NS2A with USA hardware unless it was an aftermarket upgrade by the owner.
The "NS2A's" with actual USA bodies/necks will have an insert in the bridge area that can only be seen if the bridge is removed or the paint is stripped. They were already routed for the larger USA bridge and had to have a wood insert placed around the smaller NS2A bridge.
OK. Waiting to hear back but I've been told that the USA Forte Bridge is premium brass (same as the gold bridge) with a gloss black baked enamel paint job. I'm trying to get a confirmation from the shop. The source I spoke to says they're 90% sure.
If any Forte 4 owners want to take their bridge off they'd be able to confirm the material quickly. The USA gold bridge weighs 1.5lbs. I weighted the new one and old one off my NS-4 a couple of weeks ago. It's heavy as all get-out.
An aluminum bridge wouldn't weight near as much. So if someone wants to take their strings off and carefully unscrew the three anchor screws that'd give us the answer too.
