Ouch! That is a really long time so I am not sure I can have the patience to wait :bawl:

Ya might as well order a USA SPECTOR as long as you'll be waiting that long. :eyebrow: If you compare the prices on Bass Central between the USA & Euro's They're fairly close as long as you're not looking at the high end USA's. Plus, with the Euro they don't come with a SPECTOR HSC.

The neck is a Doug Wimbish, Ian Hill hybrid. It's the skinny, narrowest neck to ever leave the Czech Factory.

Brad was comfortable with that so the only way to get the neck close to what he preferred was to do the Ian Hill front-to-back thin neck with the narrower 1.5" nut Wimbish fingerboard.

And guys, that bass had a really thin neck.

How does the Ian Hill neck compare to the NS-2A necks?

I notice that my NS-2A and previous NS-2A had a thinner neck then both of my Euros.

So is the Ian Hill neck similar to the NS-2A neck or even thinner?

A new USA Forte4 or NS-2 would have a similar neck to the Euro LX, NS-2A or NS-2JAR from front to back?

The Ian Hill neck is thinner and narrower than the NS-2A neck that I had. The IH neck is the fastest playing neck of any SPECTOR that I've personally played. I haven't played a Wimbish though.

The wait is not really bad in this case. It's being built, and will be here as soon as it can be. I can live with that. If it were hanging in a store and I was trying to save for it, I'd be in agony!

I agree...that would be tough. Unless ya had it paid off already, as in my case. That's okay...I can't wait to gaze upon, hold, feel, touch, drool and then play the bass that the master created with his hands. All the days of waiting will be worth it and it'll seem like nothing. :D :bassist:

Exactly! That is why I don't want to go to this store that isn't too far from me with a Forte 4 and 5 in stock. They also have a USA bolt-on but I know if I try them, I will need to have them right away and it would just totally bum me out.

That reminds me; I've always wondered what the USA bolt-ons are like. They don't have the curved bodies, do they? Maybe it's just me, but when I looked at pictures of em on the internet, I noticed they had a tummy cut rather than the curve. Any reason why that may be?

Ah...Meh! Not buying it! :eyebrow: if there were such a store like that near me I'd just have my paychecks direct deposited there!

JPS posted this in the last thread explaining the differences:

I could do that but then I wouldn't have a house to live in :)

Hey peeps!

I'm down to three choices after emailing BC.

Custom White Gloss Euro Wimbish, gold hardware
Forte 4 Flame Maple OBP-2, black hardware
Forte 4 Flame Maple USA 9V, black hardware

My Rebop covers the dual humbucker sound, my NS-2JA-R covers the two single coil sounds - now I need a P/J

My recently acquired NS-2JA-R plays like buttah! Slightly more midrange in tone - and no hum when bridge pup is soloed! The EMG pre isn't too bad - not as warm as I thought it might be - not as subtle as the TonePump. I'm going to leave it as is, I actually like the sound of the EMG pre with the two J pups. The neck is a bit beefier than the Rebop or my old NS-2A - but I like it - it almost feels like a NT. I think I got this for a steal!!

That's a bit of an under-statement! :-) I have to say, I tried out Limaguy's JAR the last time I was over and I really liked that bass a ton. I really liked the beefy neck since it felt similar to my Euro 5 so it wasn't a huge difference to play between the two. Plus, I really loved the sound of that bass so I can definitely see myself getting one in the future.

That's a tough decision between the 3 of those. a White Wimbish would be really sweet but the Forte's are great as well. Very different necks though from what I hear though since I think I remember someone saying the Forte has a pretty beefy neck as well.

According to the "Site" the Ian Hill neck is thinner than the Euro4LX...

I was getting nervous, I didn't see any comments on the NS-2JAR and I was thinking for a moment you didnt like it.

From your description above I think I was on target describing it and you like it so I feel better now. :hyper: And you did steal it for that price. :hiding:

Regarding your new decision. I would say go with the Forte 4 Flame Maple OBP-2, (you could always add the USA 9V later, unless the price isnt too much more when ordering now)
And "get a steal" on a used "Euro or NS-4CR down the road.
