Almost sure it must be aftermarket. That's actually the configuration I want in my Rebop. How do you like the sound of it compared to the tone pump, or have you even heard the tone pump preamp?

I like the sound of it a lot. I've heard a few sound bites of the TonePump (never actually in person, though, FWIW) and it's nice as well, but I like the versatility of this pre. The mid controls are really nice cuz you can roll em off for the most part, boost some bass and a little treble and you get a killer funk tone. Then when you want a nice and articulate finger tone, the mids sound really good boosted. I guess it's really the versatility that sells it for me since I switch between those two styles a lot. The volume pan is really nice, too, cuz it makes switching during a song quick as hell. I like it a lot.

That's only 3 controls... what's in the 4 the hole?

My bad, the fourth is a volume pan. All knobs have the middle click, by the way.

Sorry, meant to say Pickup Pan and seperate volume knob, so there's six knobs total including the 2 stacked pots. This was hard for me to express for some reason. haha.

I have pulled the trigger and ordered a Forte 4.

But it will be made from scratch and will not be ready till after NAMM, so the ETA is mid-late Feb 2012.

But I need some time to get the funds up anyway so its all good.

Hey guys, I just saw a Legend Custom for sale with a jazz pickup in the bridge position. Was such a thing ever made? Never seen that before. Wondering if it's fake.

I've seen Legends with a humbucker at the bridge and a single coil at the neck - do you have a pic you can share? Also, some older Legends were P/J with gold hardware. Was it a P/J?

In my haste I actually made a mistake, the jazz pickup was at the neck position. there was a humbucker or soapbar at the bridge. It's on ebay right now. I'll try to post the link as soon as I figure out how. Never seen a Legend like this.

Yeah, the ones with the humbucker at the bridge and the single coil at the neck were mid-2000s Legends. (not exactly sure which years)

They made jazz+soap basses for sure. I can't recall the model

That's it. thanks. I finally did find the model on the Spector site. They were made from 2004 to 2006. Looks like a good deal. Don't want to spend alot as I plan to change the preamp and pups anyway.

Hey guys

Just a long shot-but do any of you out there have the late 80's SPECTOR 5 bass made by Stuart at the Kramer factory in Neptune, New Jersey ?

There were less than 90 made I think. They were all neck thru and had 2 J type single coil pickups and the serial number started with the letter V ( meaning 5 I guess in Roman numerals--and not V for vintage ).

Solid basses and nice to look at and listen to.

Please let me know and could you post pics for others to look at ...pleaz ????

After two weeks of owning my first Spector I gotta say I'm completely bitten.

GAS is setting in..... Spector #2 will be a Rex5 with the holoflash finish. Time to start saving.

Pulled the trigger on that NS20004 on ebay, since all it needs are the electronic guts and I have tons of parts lying around on my workbench.
The tuners look pretty crapped up but I have a couple sets of those too.

I would think Schaller M4 tuners should fit since the higher quality spector models used those right?

Anyone have a Haz copy (the import version that works for passive pickups) they'd be willing to sell?
