+1!:scowl: Last night at rehearsal...like every time at rehearsal...my sound guy asks me to turn down my bass down just a pinch...I say to him,"until the drummer starts to play"...:rollno: so I only roll back on my pups volume, then when the drummer starts to wail away I up the pups to max! My Ampeg B-15T master is only set at 3 1/2 -4. And this is inside an auditorium with capacity of 400!:bassist:

I know what you mean, and on top of the drummer, I have two guitarists that like to go to 11 with tube 100 watters....I had to get the rig I have just to keep up...Thankfully it sounds great too, but the Spector put it over the top. Guys were complimentary before, but after I got my Spector back, guys were coming up to see what all I was playing and was very complimentary of the tone.

Very interesting. I have an M9 and just picked up a PH 1000 last night and can't wait to wind that thing pair up! How would you describe that cab's sound?

I played a gig last weekend and a guy came up to the stage and said that the first thing he noticed walking into the room was that the bass sounded amazing. He said it was sound that every other bass player was looking for.

I always said, it doesn't matter what you plug a Spector into, it sounds great.

Plenty of love for a Spector DI'd into a great PA!!!

It is deep, and it projects great. Another thing I like about it is how solid the cab is built. I had Avatars before, which sounded great. The problem was, when I'd get going, I couldn't have anything on top of them as it would vibrate off....that's not so with the Mesa.

I think you'll be pleased with the M9. I haven't tried one, but I'd like to. I have seen in Mesa Threads where guys who were using the 400+ and loved it, switched to the M9 and loved it more...

Thanks for that. I have read mixed reviews but thought I'd take the chance. I am actually looking for more 'deep' or bass extension as I have heard it called. Mine is in the Road Ready cab and my first impression was as you said, just incredibly overbuilt. This cab is now 5-6 years old and, while showing normal signs of use, is an absolute brick. A very heavy brick, mind you, but a brick nonetheless.

Lets all pray for a successfull surgery for two of my kids...the oldest is a Ns2a which is getting a transplant of a "Tonepump" and the 2nd youngest which is a Ian Hill Euro which is getting a transplant of a US Haz-lab......thanks in advance for all your prayers.

I had a NS-95 just like the one you got from Ice.
It should have a EMG BT in it now, correct?
The EMG HZ PU's are the same that come in the ReBop series which comes with a TonePump so the swap would be very easy.

I know the sound of the NS-95 and the Tonepump in general, I think you would be very happy with a TonePump,
as it will give you a bit more boost on the low end.

Another idea, if you went from the EMGHZs to active EMGs and kept the BT circuit you would get fuller overall sound.
Sometimes you can get a used set of active EMG 40's series around $100.

EMG DC35/DC40 and EMG BT preamp sounds really good IMO. Its only cut and boost but a good match. I have this in my SSD era Spector 5 and all my other Spector's have the EMG BQC Control Preamp w/Active MIDs. Thats a really good pre as well.
