Spector Club - Part 15

EMG DC35/DC40 and EMG BT preamp sounds really good IMO. Its only cut and boost but a good match. I have this in my SSD era Spector 5 and all my other Spector's have the EMG BQC Control Preamp w/Active MIDs. Thats a really good pre as well.

Im likely going to put the BQC in my Rex5... how do you like the mid sweep range on that?

Hey Chris....
I LOVE the MIDs on these preamps. Great Pre. I have it in 3 of my basses and will be going in my new one arriving next week.

MID: Bottom Sweep is set full counter clockwise and top set center indent. I LOVE it. Clicky and ballsy. I think if you set center/center, its flat. See ya at Winter NAMM. I don't think I am gonna make BPL unfortunately.

As I recall I am pretty sure the top knob is the boost/cut for the mid frequency controlled by the lower knob. If you are on the center click then I am not sure you are hearing any effect from the midrange. But I could be wrong.

FWIW, I personally love the BTS and have ended up with them in virtually everything that did not have a proprietary pickup system I just did a full install of PU's and BTS system in the other bass I own that begins with an "M" that I cannot mention here.

Ok so i got a kittle stupid and a little brave and took out the chisels .... No route needed now ! The filler popped out fairly easily and will clean up fine . Not sure I'd I'm gonna attempt a front filler from the reroute or leave it open . And I know I'll never march the sanded down area .... Got some glue to clean off . Bridge should be here today or tomorrow !

You are correct. I didn't finish writing. I meant to say half past center indent boost. 3/4 turn. Center is flat... Good catch.

What bridge came off that bass? What bridge are you gonna put on?

Looks like these guys do some good custom finishes...

There are some NS2s on their gallery page.

Is it a 4 or a 5?

It's a 4

I need a 5 (any of the euro line NSCR,CRFM etc. or a REX (trans blk prefered) )

I have also done the following upgrades :

Euro Rebop 4DLX Tobacco Burst

Brass control cavity machine screw inserts
Rolled neck edges
New Gold Euro bridge (original style)
Vintage (1977) Gold Schaller tuners ( to go with the road worn look)
Gold schaller strap locks
Haz Copy Pre (9v)
Spector USA knobs
EMG 35P in the neck, EMG 35DC in the bridge

($500+ in upgrades)

Basically the same set up as the std Euro series + the Haz copy and cool road worn mojo in a bolt on. I get lots of compliments on it.

Very nice, I will definately contact these folks when the Firewood 5 is ready for a new look.

Anyone have any other options for some quality folks that can do some grain filling and repainting? And install a fretboard?

Lets all pray for a successfull surgery for two of my kids...the oldest is a Ns2a which is getting a transplant of a "Tonepump" and the 2nd youngest which is a Ian Hill Euro which is getting a transplant of a US Haz-lab......thanks in advance for all your prayers.

Awesomeness! Good luck and can't wait to hear a sound clip of the Ian Hill!!!:bassist:
