Here's a video I made....

Hope the sound quality is not as horrible as it sounds on my laptop!

Spector Forte 4 played through an Ashdown Evo 900 hear and Ashdown ABM 810.
First part (intro to my song called "Vigilance") played clean, then with the MXR M80 DI engaged,
Then some doodling around with the MXR Envelope Filter, And finally Boss BF-3 Flanger.

OH MY :eek: :bassist: ....a warning for everyone (especially for ICE) brace yourself before you listen, you may pass out from the tone coming from the Forte in this video. :hyper:

I have a feeling there may be alot more people GASing or actually ordering a Forte soon.

wow... thats the tone i have been dreaming about..... nice playing... I wish that someday I could afford a bass that nice.... but I don't think its in my cards... you guys make me jealous.... man I'm still drooling from that video :bassist:

Hey , Can anyone give me some recommendation on Spector Euro 5lx series?

i wonder about the colors n top, does having those birdeye poplar really make a different to the tone? or sticking with Maple top is a good idea?

A question to my Spector Brethren, because I cherish your opinions. My Son is 7 and wants to start playing bass like Daddy, so I think it is time for Loe 2.0. I want to get him a shorter scale bass, would love to start him on a Spector, but no short scales in our price range. Anyone seen or played anything that might be shorter scale that is cool he might like? Thinking I'd like something decent so he doesn't get discouraged, maybe a PJ setup.

Lima mentioned the Ibby Micro. I've heard good things about the Ibby Micros. There are also short scale SX basses - Fender/Squier has short scale Jags.

Don't know if poplar or maple make that much of a difference (that I can hear, anyway). Maple is a great tone wood - but the new LX series have three layers - depending on the model - you can have an alder back, a walnut slice and a maple top. If you're near a dealer that sells them, go try them out - I'm sure Bass Central can answer a lot of your questions. Or shoot an email to JPS or PJ at Spector.

I don't think the top will make much of a difference in the tone.
The LX series will have a
3-Piece Maple, Graphite Reinforced
Neck-Thru Body Construction
With
BODY WINGS MADE FROM
-Alder back
-Slice of walnut
-And a Top Wood (Quilt Maple, Flame Maple, Exotic Woods)

I would suggest going with ever you like the look of best.

They sound amazing and have sustain for days.
Great value for the quality of bass you would be getting.

Thanks guys, this was actually what I found. I think I am going to go with this one, looks cool, he can pick a color out and it's the closest looking to a Spector in a short scale I can find ;)

NOW I JUST NEED TO FIND A TONE PUMP OR HAZLAB FOR IT!! :hiding: :ninja: :bassist: :hiding: :help: :ninja: :bassist:

I bet if Spector made a short scale legend or performer they would be very popular for kids. I know this house would have one tomorrow.

I teach K-5 music, if they need someone to head up a Spector Education Division, I am your man.

Email PJ and recommend a short scale Performer series. That sounds like a good idea. :hyper:

I have not played a Euro 5LX. I used to own a Rebop 5DLX - different beast.

I'm sure some of the other Spector heads will chime in tomorrow - older Euro 5s were quite heavy - and as they say 'built like a tank' - newer ones, especially the LX are a bit lighter. As far as the neck is concerned, I can only compare it to the NS-2A or the NS-2JA-R - not a baseball bat, but not uber-thin either. It's a nice solid grip, more rounded than my Rebop. I think if you shoot an email to JPS or PJ, they can also point you in the right direction -they're extremely helpful. Same goes for Bass Central. But yeah, wait for some of the other guys to chime in who have Euro 5s or 5LXs.
