The good thing about them also is you don't have to go there to buy it. I bought my Rebop 5 from the Knoxville Tennessee store and never went near the place. I called them up and bought it over the phone so they shipped it right to my house. You take a bit of a chance but they do have a return policy so you are covered by that.

I've got some better pictures of that bass if anyone wants them. It's got some dings, but it's ok for the price.

EMG makes a 40P5 and 40J series soap Pick ups.
I am not 100% sure if this is correct, but I think these would be a P and a J PU inside the soap housing? vs. the DC, CS or TW version of the soaps.

I'd go with a NS-2A...The neck is very close to the feel and beefiness of the NS-95. Since I had both at one time...:smug:

Nicki owns The Strands LA, a state-of-the-art recording studio in LA... as well as been a seriously bad-rear-end bassist with chops.

Cool...just took the survey. Without giving anything away, I was a little surprised at how much more I liked the bass I picked over the other two. I'd be glad to hear the Forte run thru this routine when you get it....might change some votes!

Could you please elaborate about the configurations of your Spectors. And what gauge strings do you play? They all sound good.

I'm planning to replace the electronics in my NS2a. I'm gonna try the emg active pickups.
I'm leaning towards the mighty mite hazlab clone preamp but I am also considering an EMG preamp and haven't ruled out a tone pump.

Same with me...one stood out above two others. I took the survey as well. Thanks LimaGuy! What operating system are you using with Pro Tools, MS or Apple? I have all Apple equipment and I know a lot can be done with Garage Band...I need to start using it more...especially for recording.

They actually gave me free shipping. At first, the guy said it would be $12 for shipping but then he said he could wave it which was really cool of him. It was sent UPS ground also so it only took 2 days to get to my house.

You pay your local sales tax though which ended up working out better for me. Sales tax in NJ is 7% but in Tennessee, it is over 9% so you can either make out or get a bit hurt on the tax, depending where you live :)

Wow...Our sale taxes here are 12%:hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:
When I brought my Forte back from Seattle they KILLED me with that tax.

Yup, that is exactly correct. I just installed a set of 40P/40J in my Q5. Picked them up very reasonably on eBay. I have always prefered the P/J sound and this has been a great way to get there on a soapbar loaded bass. The sound at practice was pretty authentic. I think the output vs the DC series is a bit less but that is easily compensated. I will get to compare these at full working volume against my DC loaded Euro5 this Friday.

And the P-coils are in Spector orientation, with the bass side closer to the bridge.
