I am not a 5ver guy so I dont know if my opinion is better or worse then a 5 string player.

But here is my expereince.

I have played a 35" Spector Euro5 LX and compared it to a 34" Spector NS-95. (5 string Korean made mid 90's)

The B string on Euro LX with the right strings is just amazing. Hit an open note on that bass and it sounded as if it could last for about 2-3 mins. (all strings not just the B)

The B string on the NS-95 wasnt that far behind.

With some strings they both sounded floppy.

I am down from 6 Spector basses to 3 in a few weeks.

They are anxiously waiting on their new Big Brother.
But at the same time wondering if their crazy owner will cut them for another USA model after he arrives. ;) :eek: :hiding:

I'm jealous! Im still working on getting my second Euro 5LX :p. I really need to find another band. I'm buying all of this gear and only using it at home. I wanna show it off so badly.

Thanks, I've also played Euro 5LX and loved the feel of B string but just haven't tried their 5ers 34". Currently I'm with Euro435LX (normal tuning) and what I really like about it is the feel with this 35" tension.

I'm getting sick of this iPhone app. I keep accidentally sending incomplete messages.

As I was trying to say, I have been playing my Kramer era NS-2's for years and right now my Forte X has moved ahead of them as my go to right now. I've gotten a bunch of complements on the way it sounds live, even compared to my NS-2.

There's a way you can turn the autocorrect function off in the settings app. I turned it off on mine cuz I was getting frustrated with the dictionary it uses. It's supposed to 'adapt' to your language, but like you said, it just became a PITA.

When you're replying to a thread, there's a button on the top bar with a + sign (to the right of where it says 'New Reply'). If you click that button, it'll give you the option to upload a picture from your phone. The only problem I had was that I had to frequently delete and reupload the pictures I was trying to post cuz it was taking too long, but it'll work eventually!

I live just outside of Ruston, but our band plays there alot, and my GF lives just outside Monroe. Hahaha...I think I sort of remember that place, but can't remember the name. My brother is 10 years older than me and was at NLU from 83-88, and stayed a few years after that, then I started Tech in 93,so I've seen all kind of things come and go in that town.

Haha, I am the exact same way. I have been burned way too many times by auto correct so I make sure I look it over before I send it and I am normally glad I did that since I am sure there were a few changes made. It is to the point now where I rarely post from my phone since I normally have my laptop with me also and it is just easier that way.

You know it is bad when there are URL's created to show how auto correct has made their sentences look like something it shouldn't be :)

Don't get me wrong, that was like 20 years ago. The gigs I play now are usually people my age talking about their kids and well, to be honest mostly how crazy we all were 20 years ago. Its nice because now I know who is basically going to be out, and I also know everyone likes the same kinds of music we do, and have seen all the BS songs 1000 times and actually get excited when you pull out something cool.

Pantera- Holy crap, I remember seeing them play "I'm Broken" live, that is the heaviest groove of all time. Rex playing the Spectors through that wall of SVT's, it gets no better than that. I always just thought they were going to be a band that was just always going to be around, they were so good.

We used to have little pits here and there, but everybody used to be pretty cool for the most part.

I think I have told you this before, but my favorite thing to do with my white NS-2A back then was finish our last songs (Usually Walk by Pantera or a Medley of 3 Rage Against the machine Songs) Then with my wireless go and hand my bass to the biggest nut in the pit or the bar, then leave for backstage. Then I would watch as our guitar tech (he is the lighting director for "O" in Vegas now) try to go get it back from the guy. I don't know why, I just always thought that was funny.

Has anyone wired a tone pump using the new clip style active EMG's? I know I need to cut off the ends of the pup wires with the clips leaving the red black and white wires. My question is do I need to solder the white wire from pickup to the pot and to the lug as shown in this diagram

or is this for the older style EMG with the braided ground. Little confused here :confused:

I haven't dealt with those (clip wires), but I'm assuming the black wire is the same as the center wire (inside the braid) coming from the raw pickup (non-clip version) wire. This diagram is slightly incorrect/incomplete.

The connection from the volume pots to the center lug is not a continnuation as it seems to show. There are two separate connections there not being shown.

With the old style, non-clip pickup, the braid (your black wire I assume) would be soldered to the pot chassis while the center white wire (your white wire I assume) would continue on to the center lug of it's respective volume pot. Your white and black wire from the clip might be switched in their respective function, but I'm guessing the above is correct. The EMG site may have the exact answer for you.

Of course, the red battery wire would be soldered up as shown.
