I bought the black NS-2JA from Mental Octopus off Ebay...kept it until about a month ago and traded it for another Euro5. The NS-2JA has a bit of a different sound than a P/J NS-2A. The J pickups in the NS-2JA just didnt cut it for me...it still had a great Spector sound, but didnt have near the balls and punch of the P/J models. Just wanted you to know it found another good home!

The zebra top on your Rebop, as well as the EMG-HZ's (I checked your profile
) will definitely dish out more pronounced mids...US made NS-2's from the Brooklyn & Kramer eras (like the ones used in those videos) have solid maple bodies & EMG PJ pickups (not to mention the awesome Hazlab preamp), which yields a slightly different tone.
Overall, though: it's all Spector, it's all good!
I have the opportunity to get a wicked deal on an almost new Spector Euro 435LX with a flame maple top and natural oil finish. I have two questions.
1) I noticed that the neck on the Euro CRFM 4-string (made in 1995) that I just bought is significantly thinner than the older Euro CR 4-string that I just sold. I know that the gloss finish that Spector puts on their basses is pretty thick, but would that be the only reason for the change in the size of the neck? Would it be safe to assume that the 435LX neck would be similar to the CRFM? I also noticed that the Spector logo on the headstock is a lot thinner (the lines are very distinct). Has anyone ever noticed that before?
2) All three of the 4-string Spectors that I have owned have had a PJ setup. The 435LX has dual EMG 35DC humbuckers. I know Spector has made a few 4-strings with dual humbuckers. Does anyone know how they sound in comparison to the PJ setup?

Poor Kip...he was one of my favorites bassists from the '80s (Eddie Jackson ruled though)...his tone was all b@lls, and regardless of what the haters say, the boy could play some mean bass, and wrote great songs, and sang great...but alas he should have just called himself "Douche-Bag Licker" and then called the band "Licker"...the final nail in his coffin though was "Down Incognito"...jeez.

Yeah, I often hear that the Rebops/Zebops mix classic Spector sound with a jazz-bass tone. All I can say is, it works for me! As far as wooden basses go, Spector and Alembic are top of the list for me! I love my Spector!
