Spector Club (Part 2)

Wondering if anyone can answer who makes them. I have a Legend 4 and Legend 6 - the 6 has the stock strings on it minus one that I had to replace - maybe I should start a what do you string your Spectors with thread - just to get some opinions.

Ha! I think this is the first time this has happened. We asked a question that PJ Rubal couldn't answer. He said they're made to Spector's specifications, but he doesn't know who makes them! They are made in the USA if that makes you feel good!:D

Could also be that Spector doesn't want to say who makes the strings because then they will loose string sales.

I was suprised at how much I liked the stock strings on my Euro 6 - I ordered a spare set. I've been using DR's on my basses before.

That's funny because I'm the opposite. I got rid of the stock Spector strings in favor of nickel DR Lo Riders.

BTW, I went back and read his email and he says Spector doesn't say who makes them. I misread it as he didn't know who made them, so I think you're right.

I'm looking now trying to find some medium or heavy 5 string sets from that dealer, whatever even with $10 posting It'll still be reasonably cheap for England unless theres some hidden tax or something xD. Never had experience with international shipping on any level
EDIT: Found some 5 string mediums, comes to $35.99 with shipping, ill get some around Christmas time then if I can.

I've had my ReBop 5 DLX FM fretless (custom in both a ReBop fretless build as well as the Blueburst finish - the order went FUBAR and god bless PJ for hooking me up with the Blueburst finish as a "sister" to my fretted 5 in Black Cherryburst) for a while, but recent got it back from upstate NY where it underwent the famous and absolutely-worth-the-money HG Thor epoxy coating. Drool has replaced words at this point - besides the visual beauty of the nearly perfect glass-like coating, the growl and mwah in every point of the audio spectrum I'd put up against any other fretless - although Harris was kind enough to mention that the bass was "a wonderful sounding fretless to begin with, and I have the most success with those in my work", so don't forget to consider Spector as well when thinking about a fretless:

As to why I'm an "all-ReBop Man" ("ZeBop" Zebrawood-topped 4, DLX FM 5 & fretless 5) I've always loved the sound and feel of Spectors but not a huge fan of neck-through construction as well as the tone active EMGs as my sound, and I've found that the ReBop line is a wonderful cross between a classic Spector and a great Jazz bass due to the deep bolt-on neck and Alder/Maple body woods. These parameters work extremely well for me personally, and the construction is Spector - second to none.

I would love to hear some sound clips of that beauty!:hyper:

I'm in the middle of cleaning and reconfiguring my Music Room and recording setup, but I plan to have some samples recorded in the not-to-distant-future for TalkBass as well as Harris' site. When I've got them, this thread will be the first to know.

Thanks for the compliments everyone, and the pics that show his new "Axe" logo? Although it looks as if it's resting on top of the fretboard, that's actually underneath several coats of epoxy. It's that crystal clear.

OMG....that is true beauty!

Oh and btw, there's a chance I may be stepping down as president of the Spector club and putting up my Euro 4LX on the auction block. I've been mulling over this for some time and I'll probably be doing so for the next couple of days. If I do end up doing it, I'll put it up in the classifieds first to give one of my fellow talkbass members the first shot.

:hyper: I, NS2A, would like to announce my candidacy for president of the Spector club! I know we are only a week away from the last election, but this one is much more important!
I PROMISE to...
-get you an all exclusive tour of the Spector factory
- new strings weekly
- free bass lessons for you and your kids
and...your very own brand new Spector bass!!

Now, how will I fund this? Easy. A special tax on those snooty boutique basses. ;) Anyone who can afford one of those can pay just a bit more for us common folk, you betcha. :hiding:

I've had thoughts of having that done to my NS5. How long were you without your baby?
