Hazlab preamp. If you have this in your NS-2A, KEEP IT!

That sure looks like what I have. What else would be in there? Mine does not say Hazlab anywhere that I could see though?

I meant to take pics last night, but time got away from me.

For reference, my NS2A does not have a serial number, the case that came with it is original, but does not say Spector or Kramer and, the J pickup is a regular sized J pickup. From what I understand, and confirmed by PJ, the bridge J pickup is the same size as the standard EMG J neck pups. Not sure why they did (still do?) that? And I know the bass wasn't routered as the original stain can be seen in the pup slot. So I'm guessing this was one of the first runs of NS2A's?

I was thinking hard about letting it go, but you guys are talking me into keeping it

I know the newer ones have trim pots on them, but I'm not sure when they started adding them.

I got confirmation from PJ today that the trim pot does control the over-all output gain. So, this evening I'll try tweaking it down a bit.

Letting go of the bass? or the preamp? either way, you will regret it I sold my first spector NS2A years ago, and kicked myself for years afterwards...until of course, I bought another one.
My NS2A has the Hazlab pre in it and it is my favorite bass....folllowed by both my NS2C's

Couldn't find a picture of the circuit board, but I know that TB'er 'seventhson' used to have a pic or two of it up on the forums here (he's taken them down, though).

You might want to PM him and see if he still has the photo.

For a "quick fix" though, just check the bottom of the pots on your bass' pre - if it is one, they should have HAZLAB stamped right into them!

Stupid question: I was looking to get a gig bag for my Performer. Should I get a Spector-branded one or would any bass gig bag be fine? The reason I ask is because the Spector NS body seems to be much narrower than a Jazz in particular. I don't know if having a gig bag that is slightly too big would be an issue or not.

Well, since the first one is put up by somebody with only one feedback and the second one is asking for $90 for shipping, I don't think I'd trust either one.

I just switched back to my original stock strings from Rotosound 66, and I'm in love with these old things xD I hadn't really compared them when i put the Rotosounds on but I prefer the stock strings far more.
Does anyone know who makes the Spector strings, or where I can get some in the UK?

Wondering if anyone can answer who makes them. I have a Legend 4 and Legend 6 - the 6 has the stock strings on it minus one that I had to replace - maybe I should start a what do you string your Spectors with thread - just to get some opinions.
