Haha, it is duct tape, and in the picture it looks like it's stuck to my bass, but it isn't. The duct tape is all on a wireless unit that had a bad tendency to fall apart mid-gig.Hyde, I hope my eyes are deceiving me, but is that duct tape on the end of your Spector?

I'm wondering, has anyone modified the Hazlab to be v/b vs. v/v? For me it's challenging to get a good balance with v/v. Does anyone else not like both volumes on full? To me it sounds choked, or out of phase or something.
This is my first Spector (an NS-2A), I'm surprised how sensitive/finicky the Hazlab pre is after all the praise, it sure does sound great once it's dialed in though!

That is not a haz pre, but rather a korean copy to some extent. Different haz pre's have different options, mine has the v/b
If I were to ever get a more expensive Spector, that'd be the one I'd want exactly.Can I have a number?
Having said that, the more I play my Performer the more I like it. It plays great, stays in tune great, and is balanced nicely both on my lap and with a strap (that sounded worse than it was intended). The construction seems to be first-rate too: far better than my Chinese-made Floyd Rose Discovery guitar. I'm just really thankful that I serendipitously checked eBay that day and got it for a song. My timing's not usually that good . . .

There is some conflicting info out there though, some of which is on that japan page. I just sent PJ an email asking for info that will hopefully put some of this to rest. Here are the questions I emailed him....
First.....all NS-2a's were made in Korea correct?
Were there ever ANY made in japan spectors? There is a japanese site showing what they believe were Japan made NS-2's which looked US all day long.
Last....the NS-2a's preamp is similar to a haz labs, but I am assuming it is a korean made....likely reverse engineered on some level?

Easy there everybody. I assume when the term 'boy' was used, it was as in dude or man and no offense was intended.
Secondly, IIRC that when Kramer acquired Spector, they used a Japanese company to build some of the very first NS-2A's before it was ultimately decided to use a Korean company. I can't remember exactly where I got the info, but it would make some sense since Kramer did have a lot of their imports built in Japan.

I love this bass too much, it gets all the play time....which is resulting in it getting pretty beat up.
The mij theory you stated makes sense, and it is a good possibility. I am sure PJ will let us know the iggy. I don't believe any imports were made before the kramer era.
PS, if your spector sells, I want the #1!
