@şerban The bridge is tricky, but u can get used to it.
Don't let the saddles get a big angle, cos the result is what u say. I have em with almost no angle at all, and it works fine. (btw, don't forget to loosen em up before changing anything, and when done tighten em, from the side of the bridge by using the same allen key. I hadn't notice that at first)

@dean owens Are u sure you have both volume pots completely turned all the way down? Cos they are quite sensitive, a little turn can make a difference.
As for the bridge pup buzz, try to see if the cable is well-inserted in the down side of that pickup. It might be a little loose (in my case, it was). Just push it in.
Try lowering the pups a bit from the B and E side.
And finally YES, 35" scale needs some time to get used to it. After almost a year i think i now am fully comfortable with it

Hi, I have been a member here at talkbass for quite some time, I don't think I've ever posted anything, but a few days ago I got my new bass, a Spector Euro 5 LX that I am in love with, and I just thought I'd share the news with you guys

The only thing about this bass that I do not love is the bridge. Isn't it a bit difficult to set up the damn intonation, what with the saddles being completely detached from the bridge? Actually it's the saddles themselves that annoy me, not the bridge. The two screws in the saddles have that weird positioning and if you try setting the bass up as the "Spector Owner's Manual" recommends (saddles being tilted in an angle opposite of the way the strings tilt at the headstock) they seem to lean to the right (looking at them from the headstock). What do you guys think about the bridges in Spector Euro basses?

checked a few times actually. i actually turned them decently "hard" because i was wondering if there was a "notch" it need to get into to go all the way off.

i'll probably leave the pup hight to when i take it in for a setup. it has some high frets that need to be dealt with. if it was just intonation and such, i'd do it... but i ain't messin' with frets.

The top is indeed spalted maple. I do have another question, what is the best way of taking care of the finish? It's my first instrument with a natural finish and I am a little lost...

Regarding the bridge, thank you for the advice ysand! I will set it up again some time during the weekend and I will take your advice about the angle into account.

i'm not a fan of the bridge. it is actually harder to set up than a rickenbacker bridge. you all ways have to loosen all strings and be carful not to move a sattle by accident. but the bass sounds nice. and i guess the bridge has a huge influence, so... never change the string size and manufacturer and you never had to do a setup the bass again

Yeah, that is the trade off with Spector bridges. They can be a nuisance to set up. But, if you are like me and you use the same, or very similar, type and gauge of strings, you can set everything up once and not touch it again for years, maybe decades. Its as sturdy as they come, but initial setup can be a hassle. Its worth it IMO though.

Hey, I hope its ok that I'm posting this in this thread.
I have a Brand New Euro 4 LX with a Matte Tobacco Burst Finish . Honestly, the finish seems more reddish/amber than tobacco but its def. a looker. The reason I'm selling it is to get a five string. I have two other Euro 4’s and really these days a 5 string would get more use with my bands current set list. It’s never been played out. I’ve had it for a few months now. Let me know if there is any interest. I was looking to get $1200 shipped in the US. Comes with HSC that was dented when I got it...no issues to it, just a dent away from where the actual bass lays. I could trade that out for another Spector hardshell case (used) if you would prefer. I know the photos aren’t great but I can take better ones if there is any real interest. Thanks!!!

got the same email. i actually posted this in the "spector signature" thread... but i'll post it here too.

along with the signature models i noticed the shorty (30 & 3/8). i was all excited thinking that when my kids (who are 2.5 and 7 months) get older that there would be a cheap used spector shorty for them if they want to play. no sr. not at $3259.00 it's too bad they don't make a shorty in korea so some of the younger smaller people could start off with a spector.
