Yeah, I was surprised to see the spread of stains bassist in bp this month. He plays a friggin legend classic, meaning that with all that basses out there a guy like that could play, he chose that, crazy.

LOL! Even Johnny was confused a bit at first (from the post):
"it was no mistake. its a copy made in europe. my head is still confused about how good it is. i have more than one now, and they are consistant. i figured i may have just gotten a good sounding one by accident, but the consistancy is there. the korea ones, do not compare however, in playability or sound. the legend model rocks."
My first Spector was a 2002 Q4 Pro bass, Korean built, which was from the era before the Legend series. It was a nice introduction to Spector, but I quickly realized that there were better basses available, namely the Euro series. Once I took delivery of my Euro5LX, the Q4 Pro didn't appeal to me as it once did. The Euro has a much more articulated sound, great sustain and build quality is far superior. This translates into a bass that I just love to play again and again.

'Grats man! I'm glad that bass finally found a good home (I bet Pat is as well). IMO US BOs are the under-looked gems of the Spector line- But it's understandable considering that they're all amazing in their own right!
That top makes me jealous though.

Let's hear more about everybody's first Spector! I've always wondered.
My first was in 2006, a Legend Classic, Bubinga finish, 4 string with the j/p pickup config.
i went to the music store looking for a schecter to try (i was young and liked the look more than anything)
and he said no, you want a spector and handed me this gem (though i didnt know it at the time) so i tried it and i liked the neck, it was smoothe, skinny and fast
and then he said here, now try the shecter. and though i found they had similar feels, the sound just was no match.
so i walked out with my first spector (which actually ended up costing me less than the shecter)
2 years later, i got looking for a 5 string. this time, i know what im looking for. the euros and american are slightly out of my price range (by a few hundred haha) so i ask if they had any legends in stock. he checked the computer, one unopened legend 5 custom, amberburst was upstairs.
he brings it down and takes it out, and before i got the chance to see it, i hear him say "WOW this is a nice piece of wood" and "im pretty sure you wont be able to leave here without buying this"
and well.. he was right hahahaha

That's sort of like my story; I was looking for a 6 string and it came down to a Legend and a Schecter. The Schecter looked better on paper, but as with matters of bass, that meant nothing comparing how it felt in my hands versus the Legend.

At least here in the Spector Club.
I think it's because, IMO (CYA), they're the Legends biggest competition.
I went through the same thing, I chose to get a beautiful legend 5 custom with a J and soapbar pup config, best choice ever. The funny part is, my bro got a schecter stiletto elite soon after that, and he was asking if he could gig my spector after playing it.
Here's a picture from today of myself w/ my new-used Spector, was doing some recording with my band!
My Charvel Les Paul and Spector NS2a. The Spector is way better than the NS4CR I had a couple of years ago...and cheaper.

Man I so want in. Check it out I just got this about 2 days ago (technically not mine yet, but might as well be). One of my guitar players got it cause he figured I'd want it, and he was right, so he's selling it to me for $400 ( he got it for the same).

This bass kicks. The EMG-HZ pickups are so clear and articulate.
I think it's a Q6 Pro, but I don't really know Spectors that well. But I definately love 'em now!
I was shocked that this wasn't USA made, because it plays, sounds and looks amazing. The construction is also top notch.

Make sure that the spacing is correct for the pots (they appear to be set on the cb.), otherwise, you "mite" be in for a disappointment
