Hi guys thought i'd post here as i started a thread about Id'ing my first spector and didn't get any replys. I managed to pick this up for £330 after trying it out in the shop and falling in love with it...Anyway onto the meat!

First of all i Emailed PJ over at spector asking him about which model it is, he thinks it is a NS2000/4 made in about 2004, however on the website i can't find any details about it and i have crawled through the archive of older basses incase he was mistaken. i'll describe it to the best of my abilities and if anyone can get me closer to the elusive model name i'll be forever thankful :bassist:

By the look of things it has active electronics with EMG HZ humbuckers, 2 Volume Controls and a Bass and Treble boost. It has Dot Inlays, it is made in Korea and is neck through model. Please help me guys :D :help:

Hi there. First your Facebook link doesn't work. It tells me that the content is unavailable.

Second, you've looked through the online previous models section and none of the basses in the "Woodstock" section looks like or fits the description of your bass. Look at the imports section/Korean basses.

PJ is usually right on with his "best guesses"
Neck-thru, Korean-made, 4 knobs EMG HZ.

Unless it has an SSD headstock, the NS-2000/4 - NS2000/5 were the only Neck-thru models made at the time you think your bass was produced.

Before that it would be the NS-94 or NS-95. Before that it would have been a NS-2A or NS-2B. After the NS2000 models they moved to a Set-Neck design.

I didnt miss the brown truck today :)

An NS 2000/5 in amberburst is now mine. Man, that neck feels like home. If anything, the strings spacing feels almost TOO close compared to my Euro, which I have been playing almost exclusively since I got it (when a 5 string is called for anyways).

The fret spacing is perfect for my fingers though, it feels similar to my Legend Custom 5 (also in amberburst, which I am selling) but better.

Hey Chris!

Yes. Bursts are sometimes done. If you look at the NS-2 Artists Gallery, the second artist on the page, Leigh Foxx, has a Sunburst NS-2 and the last artist on that page, Jim Garcia, has a tobacco burst NS-2.

You'd just need to talk with PJ about which burst combos Stuart and the crew at the USA shop are doing.

What did you have in mind?

Originally I was set on getting a euro5 with a purple tension burst but now I'm debating if I should just spring for a USA bolt on 5 or forte 5..

But I guess I'm just gonna try them all back to back in october

Chris,

I'm not sure about bursts on the USA Bolts. That's definately a PJ question.

The Forte is only available in matte black. That's how the cost is kept in the range that it is. There is only one option with the Forte Models... 9v USA Tone Circuit or Aguilar Tone Circuit. That's it.

The USA Neck-thru models I've seen in different bursts. There is a NS-4 "Spalt Burst" that was done some time ago that's the best looking Spalted Maple bass I've ever seen.

Again, check with PJ about this stuff. He's always the best source and especially since you are an endorsing artist. :-)

Thanks JP I should have stated that I already hit PJ up.

I was mainly looking for examples since they're not seen very often.

I've just been trying to see if not getting the finish I want and not being neckthru would be something I'd want.

The euro has everything I want..

However I've never played a USA Spector.. So if I did spring for a USA I'd prolly get a bolt-on or a forte.

The I'd love the forte... But damn I want those crowns..

If the forte4 could be made with a 35" scale I'd just get one with out question lol but its the lack of options that keeps that cost down so I guess not lol

Way too much thinking... I should jus sell the house and buy one of each..

hi, yes ive had 4 legends ( bolt ons) for the past few years, and played them on the last record. i have the semi hollow acoustic too. ive been playing my carvin and g&l the past week, today i pulled out the legend, it only took 10 seconds to decide it still wins as far as what i like to hear out of a bass. johnny a.

I'm still waiting on my first Spector to arrive that has the Tone Pump

I've heard both good + bad, but in particular I've heard the output is VERY hot

Will that trim pot on the unit allow me to knock it back to a more "normal" level to match my other basses?
