Cheers JP. I get that about the Ian Hill model, but it seems a shame to only offer the more comfortable neck profile on a ltd edition & more expensive model. Surely having this profile on a standard EuroLX could only be a good thing?
Also, many of the pictures I see of the Ian Hill bass (including on the spector site) have a smaller gap between the back of the bridge and the end of the bass (suggesting a 35" scale) rather than the 34" it's supposed to be...?! If the 35" is a 'custom option' then maybe the picture for the standard model should be changed on the site?
Also, from the same picture on the Spector site, I cannot tell if the Ian Hill has the brass nut like the Euro4LXs do... Also, I wonder if Spector can make me an Ian Hill in Gloss White so I get the thinner neck on an otherwise Euro4LX? hmmm...
What about the warmer tone factor? I have thought that was the ongoing reason for Spector exclusively using Pau Ferro and not doing maple FBs. With their trademark NS-2 sound even more brightness from a maple neck couldn't help.
I know. I was just givin' ya a hard time.Sorry. I was referring to the fingerboard only.
IAgain, I love my Euro models. What's not to love about them?
Please contact PJ about the color options. If you are sincere about ordering a white Ian Hill model, discuss it with him. He and he alone can decide if that is something that SPECTOR will consider.
And because it will be a special order bass, you may have to pay a deposit. Not just, but in the case of non-standard, special order instruments this is usually the case.
Already made that inquiry and yes you can get an Ian Hill in White. As mentioned by JSP it is a special order bass and does require a deposit.
I'm pretty darn happy with my NS-2JA-R. Thanks for the wood info.
Now a Forte-4 is on my short list. I'm already spending money I haven't made yet.![]()

I have an LX4 Ian Hill, black, with the 35" neck option but it is strung EADG, with the appropriate slots cut for those strings, from the factory. If you would like to string it BEAD that would be a custom spec and would need to be addressed with PJ as an additional special order request.
For what it is worth the slimmer neck depth was what sold me on this particular Spector model after a hands on demo.
Cheers,
Mr. BEAR
P.S. On the Ian HIll page the Tone Pump link delivers a 404 Error.

I love the Forte Models. They are really a great deal. Go for it!

hello spector peoplei got this one on the way via ups, cant wait to get it. i play the 600$ spector legends, never had any desire to upgrade. my singer bugs me from time to time that i should play a nicer expensive one, and i argue back why bother when the 600$ one sounds as good (or better)as any of my other basses (g&l, carvin, music man, ibanez).last week i figured i would treat myself to a fresh new fancy bass to give me some inspiration to practice for the next album. ns5xl solid maple wings on the way. dealer website photo. johnny a.
