Spector Club Part 6

John Montagna is an Endorsed Spector Artist and has played/toured with the likes of The Alan Parsons Project, War, Mitch Ryder, Badfinger and Jack Bruce.

Holy crap! I don't know whether to practice more ... or cut my hands off. That was impressive. Plus, he can sing.

I saw Montagna play for Joey Molland last month when they opened for Jack Bruce at BB King's NYC. It was an outstanding show from beginning to end.

Truth be told, there was no way one could sense his deep talent in that set despite how good it was.

Here's another Montagna performance I found after the one you posted. The guitarist on the far left is Godfrey Townsend. Godfrey played guitar for Jack Bruce on this summer's tour and did an outstanding job of covering Clapton's parts without slavishly copying them.

My two, both NS5CRFMs. The sunburst one is 98 and has a chunkier neck profile compared to the natural one. Both have had the EMG's replaced with Wizard custom wound humbuckers and I split them for parallel and each coil by itself. The signal goes into a Noll 3 band parametric eq on the 'burst one which allows me to tailor the centre of the bands for each instrument...or whatever I need. The natural has an East U-Retro modified to the same centres as the MM pre.

These both replaced a pair of Smith basses because they sounded better.

I've A/B'd these basses against all comers, some instruments three times the asking price, and the Spectors win hands down every time. Clear but not brittle, growly and very warm after the mods.

It's odd being gas free.

Just wanting to demonstrate my own tone and playing, it's the first time I've been able to properly on youtube now that I've found a good place to put the camera when recording.

A Morbid Angel bass cover that no one's done as far as I know.

He was always a P-Jazz guy for the most part.. never got why he never played them live.. they seem to almost be perfect for him?
