Spector Club Part 6

See, this is why I like this place. I make a throw-away post saying that Spector's website didn't immediately give me what I was looking for and no one other than the web admin jumps in and asks what it was that I was looking for. That's pretty awesome.


Anyway, I definitely didn't mean it in a negative way. When I looked at the site (and then when I checked very briefly before that post) I simply... missed it. I was looking for a "Euro" vs "Rebop" selection vs a more general "neck-through" vs "bolt-on" selection. Now that I look at it again - and use my (apparently ******) comprehension skills I see what you're talking about and my question is answered in that regard.

So yeah, thanks for that clarification. It's funny, part of my job is web layout and I'm always griping about users missing info that's right in their face. And then I go ahead and do the same exact thing. :o

Thanks! But honestly I was a member of this forum before I started working with Spector. So I hold this little community near and dear to my heart. There's some really great people here and many Spector Artists. So this is by far the best place to come and get great/honest info about Spector basses.

Cool. I was hoping it wasn't a bad thing. You never want to hear that. Especially from someone who is seriously interesting in buying one of your guitars. So thanks.
We had talked about doing a matrix that does a comparison of the different models, but because a lot of our guitars are made-to-order, they can be customized many, many, many different ways. So we decided to keep it more open and less restrictive. If that makes sense.

No worries, if anything I get concerned that there is SO much information on the site that it might overwhelm someone. So I designed the navigation system to be as to the point and fool-proof as possible... fool-proof meaning that you're not going to get lost on the site and not be able to get back to a place you are looking for.

Cool. Glad to know you found what you were looking for. I'm very proud of what Spector does. I was an avid Spector player and fan before I got to know them and we came together for me to work with them... Their website and their very high customer service standards are something I take very seriously.

Come back when you find your Euro4LX model and join the club. We'd be glad to have you.

Definitely! It won't be for some time - it's looking like my tax return will partially go to this (first 5 years of homeownership = nice tax refunds), so we're talking mid-winter. I'm just beginning my research now.

I'm a big fan of the natural wood coloring, so I'll probably go with some form of spalted or burl, or the zebrawood if I can.

Looking forward to seeing it next to my Warwick on stage. :bassist:

About the fretwire. Spector has always used Nickel fretwire. On every model. Always.

There have been some early Euro models that have shown up with tapered frets, meaning the shape of the fretwire was different than the standard oval topped wire. I actually owned an early Euro4LX with this "flat topped" fretwire. Which is more conducive to slap bass... that's my understanding of it. The bass played the same.

WW has used brass wire. But not Spector. I hope this helps you with your question. :-)

No, thank you. I think you've done a great job of organizing and improving the site but if I didn't have access to you I would never find it. Just a thought.

The USA Bolt-Ons are great basses. I'm eyeing the NS-5MM1-W... or in non-Spector... a USA 5-string bolt-on with a single MM humbucker and wide-string spacing.

Basically the same setup as a Stingray, but a SPECTOR!!!

This one is a sexy beast:

Either this guy had something wired wrong or is totally ignorant of the pre-amp:

Read his description. He said he was the original owner, but the "Tone Pump" was wired Vol/Treble/Mid???/bass. :eyebrow:
He's trying to tell everyone "this is how the Tone Pump works".
3 band Tone Pump?!?
The reason he is now missing a knob is he obviously had it rewired passive (no pre, pickups still active) vol/vol/tone.

EDIT: I guess I got through. Although still not completely correct, he has radically edited his description.
