In over 30 years of playing I've never had one go on me or received one that was bad.
Other than being overtightened, many don't relieve the string tension when tightening (many say you should if loosening also but this seems unneccessary to me as the rod is moving with the force, not against it). Tightening against the string tension could cause it to strip.

Kinda what I was thinking too...I went to Spectors site and read the tech tips and he doesn't even tell you to loosen the tension of the strings. I wonder if it's in the null zone as the tech tips speak of? This isn't my bass but someone else.
Thanks phat! BTW my Euro5 LX I bought off eBay Saturday morning...the man said he never took the brand new Spector out of the shipping box when it arrived. His son wanted drums instead! Lol I just talked with him bc I'm particular about the shipping. He's out of town till Saturday so won't get it till next week. /:

Really?!? Well, there might be your cause.

I saw that auction. That's a nice score.
The Euro 6 (Poplar Burl) I just bought is a similar deal.
He bought it new, on sale and just never played it. I guess his other 8 Spectors stood in the way. :smug:
With Spector case for $1100 shipped 3 day. I should have it Thursday.

So is this a custom job or an option with the US models?
THAT looks cool... like burnt edges.
I like it!

hey guys, i'm very interested in the spectorcore piezo basses - in particular, i'm seriously considering ordering a 5-string fretted. unfortunately, there are very few sound clips or videos floating around the internet, and i'm wondering if some of you lovely spectorcore owners would be kind enough to share some audio/video with me.

like i said, i'm thinking about a fretted model, but i'd like to hear the fretless as well. does anyone have anything to share?

thanks!

I was looking earnestly this weekend as I was highly interested in the SpectorCore.

Did you checkout Jo Sallins 1 YouTube video? Super talented!
I decided the SpectorCore wasn't the tone that I was looking for.

Yessir, you've snagged yourself a nice poplar burl top there. Sweet :)

Up here in northern Michigan we have a lot of Burl knots growing from different types of trees. Back about 3-4 Yeats ago one of my neighbors had a big poplar tree cut down...we hauled away a huge Burl knot. Thinking of a bass body since seeing all these exotic burls.

I was just talking to JPS about this ... his bass is gloss, mine is oil ... matte should be standard on gloss body basses IMHO. Either true matte like this one, or EBMM style with a nice clean edge on the glosscoat at the headstock and body heel, with an oil finish on the neck.

Just finished recording a new tune with my Spector! It will probably be on my band's (The Icarus Effect) next album as we are finishing up vocals for our current album now.

I'm diggin' the new tone that i have on this one. What do you guys think of it? :hyper:
